The Ford family, as most uber wealthy families, lost control of their name sake foundations many years ago. Old Henry would go epileptic if he knew where his money is going and the politics it now supports. Many things have been said about him but he's never been labeled a liberal....

I wondered if the corporation might be feeding money into the foundation in order to oppose Trump, because his plans to bring their manufacturing back to the US would be costly to the company? Nothing personal (or philosophical), strictly business...

Could be. But, as more and more labor is replaced by automation and robotics the cost of labor continues to diminish. Most folks, when thinking about labor cost in the automotive industry only consider the final assembly plants which is only about 10 ~ 12% of the total cost. Sub-assemblies, parts, electrical components, engineering, design, etc, etc, may or may not locate in the U.S. So, remains to be seen how new tax laws will constructed along with tariff laws, before predicting be any changes.
