Agreed would be just my luck that the replacement would begin leaking at 36001 miles

I wonder if a dealership would agree to actually do it

GM sure as hell wouldn’t pay for it, but I’m sure you could have Safelite or whoever do it. Still sounds like a lousy idea to me though.

Did u get a replacement window?  has your leak been resolved?

No, I got it sealed on December 26th. It started leaking again a week later. I took it back, but at that visit realized my dealer was clueless. So I made an appointment with another dealer 30 min away that was much more knowledgeable on the phone.

Still haven’t made it in to that appointment. Window was still leaking last week, but less. Then it rained the past few days hard, and it’s not leaking now. So weird.

Oddly, it’s rained like the flood here the past week off and on, and my previously-resealed-leaking-still-window didn’t leak. ??‍♂️???‍♂️

Yet, whenever I have a little morning dew on the top of the truck, I see a drip on the sliding frame corner. ?

That's when I noticed it the first time and after the caulk job, it would only drip after morning dew, not rainstorms or washes. Haven't noticed any drips since the new E4 window last week or so.

They are putting my headliner in as I type this.  I stopped by the dealership earlier when the pulled the glass.  I found two cracks through the frame that the service manager failed to notice.  They are putting my headliner in today and maybe the window this afternoon or the morning.  I'll pick it up on Monday at this point for a total of 79 days out of service if this is all the warranty work I have to get done.  They did tell me that I haven't been driving the loaner much. Apparently most of the people given loaners drive the heck out of them.  I did notice all of the steel hardware that holds the seat on the rear of the cab is rusting.  I will also say that their glass crew did a great job removing the window in one piece and did not put a single scratch anywhere that is exposed(there is one scratch through the paint exposing primer behind where the window seals).

So after I found water in my cab yesterday 5 days after my new window was installed I took it by the dealership this morning. Service manager wants it this afternoon. Talked to GMC to reopen my case. And here is a good one for you guys. The guy at GM said he had never heard of this issue. And was blaming the work that the glass installer had done. I had to laugh and then proceeded to educate him. Also pointed out this website for him to look at and gain more education. Of course I think he is lying about not hearing about this before. And no loaner car for me, damn. The adventure continues.

UGH!  Took my truck in for the seatbelt recall and the dealership found a lot of moisture under my rug.  The source:  Rear window.  The first attempt to reseal the window failed and waiting to see how the second attempt goes.  so far they had to remove and dissinfect my carpet twice now to prevent mold from growing.

They will never fix it with sealant, i dont think a single person has had that hack fix performed and had it last more than a week if even that.

They sealed mine three times before I convinced them that it needed a new window.  Today they removed my window and I found not one but two cracks through the plastic frame at the edge of the slide guide rail. Good Luck.  I'm on day 75 and they want to give the sealant on the new window 48hrs to cure so I won't get my truck back until Monday-79 days out of service.

I have read through so many posts on this topic, most people arent posting the type of rear window they have.  Are folks with the fixed rear window experiencing same issues?  I could care less about the sliding rear window will really never use it.  Wondering if I should just have it replaced with a fixed glass unit.

That’s why I ordered mine without it

That’s nuts they should have compensated you some way or another

Mines been sealant fixed since August. Worked on the first attempt and still dry today. Competence (or incompetence) of the techs doing the job probably plays a huge part. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy my window is caulked though.

The caulk joint was very poorly done with mine in the fix each time. I’m actually going to see if they need that window or if they are going to junk it. The pro I saw on the repair after having the window out was the caulk tube tip was cut with too narrow of an opening and wouldn’t allow the caulk to flow out and cover the entire joint from truck body to window glass. Ha they don’t that there would have been no was for the water to enter cracked frame or not. The way the window sits with the spoiler they really would have. A hard time Caulking it properly.  Why GM didn’t have the spoiler come 3/8-1/2” down below the window top and terminate on the glass vertical surface instead of the Horizontal joint is beyond anything this plumber can figure.

Lol, even as a guy who works in music industry, works on my farm, and does extensive home remodeling -- the first thing I thought of was this exact thing -- why in the hell would they run this angle directly for water to hit a seam? Makes zero sense. Water will find a way through the smallest hairline crack. Just common damn sense.

    • It's possible the two trucks are using different body control modules which is why yours works and the OP's doesn't.   So much in these newer vehicles depends on model/trim configurations, production date. They don't all use the same modules like back in the day.
    • I forgot to answer the question as per what market mine is set to and yes I finally found that area on mine and yes its also set to America.   So here's something I realized as I wasn't looking at that part in the Sierra section until now, your right that what I see here as choice 3 under Sierra which says 07/2023-06/2026 ( 433 MHz 13542523 ) it has no choice 5 for tire pressure selection. Where as it does under the Chev choice. However I kept going down the list within the Sierra and I am really wondering if choice 9 will work for your truck as it has the same model number and hertz sensor as my truck. I would say try that choice first, if that doesn't work then jump over to the Chev section and again choose that same model and hertz choice as for some reason the Chev section gives the choice 5 of tire type/pressure selection for going back a number of years. Could very well be an Autel thing that they just didn't get the updates all done properly under Sierra but anyway first try that selection 9 I suggested under Sierra and then go from there.
    • Looking for this piece that holds the hose clamp in place. I have the hose clamp just not that other piece. Dealers and wrecking yards in my area will not sell just that piece. They want you to buy the whole air tube $100 +/- to get that $5 part.  that piece isn't molded to the air tube as I looked at my friends truck. It's held on by a screw and nut. I'm trying to put the OEM parts on the truck as the previous owner butchered things up installing an aftermarket CAI. It really looked homemade. 🤣 Thanks
    • Ok I missed that part that yours is a GM. The strange part is that the choice for year ranges and within the year of 2026 is different on the Sierra then on the Chev for some reason as I am looking at my tool at the Sierra choices. Now I am guessing you see as to your sensor part number as it may be different on your truck for some reason and a call to GM should get you the part model number of the sensors you should have as well as which MHz your sensors are. I know mine are the ones as per what I listed but there are other choices in the Autel and got me wondering if by some chance they put different ones in your truck. Having said that, did you try using each of the choices starting from No 1 and going on down the list, not sure if that would mean shutting off the engine each time and resetting the tool and going at it again each time. Also I thought of something else which may sound retarded but if there was some stupid chance that the chev choice would work. The reason I say that is that the Sierra is showing a range up to 06/2026 for the various choices of sensors it could be where as the Chev has one choice that has that 12/2026. By the way it is possible to not run the truck and you may know that as per not pressing the brake but pressing and holding the start button for a few seconds and it lights up the dash ( its called service mode ) but that sucks battery power and if it were me doing it that way I would be throwing on a decent sized battery charger before doing it that way as killing your battery won't make you happy at me at all !.    Like I say, just a thought to try the Chev choices if you have already exhausted the Sierra choices but first it would be nice to know for sure what exact sensor model and hertz your truck uses as I assume only those choices that mention the sensor would work unless a choice that does not mention the sensor model would somehow work. Its frustrating when one is trying to use tools like this without the experience of the tool and the vehicle, as I am sure dealer techs themselves struggle with it when starting out or a new model year comes along that is slightly different.
    • I tried before I updated the scan tool just incase an update messed it up, but it never worked so I updated the scan tool and it still didn't work.   Only difference is I click on Sierra not Chevrolet cause I have a Sierra.   If I click on 2026-2024 I didn't have any option to change placard, when I click on 2023 it does give me the option but when I try to do it,.it says vehicle not supported!   I have my region or market or whatever it is set to America I think, is that what yours is set to?
