I have a 2019 Blazer and this happens everytime I entered the vehicle.  I have an iPhone Xs and am running iOS 13.3.  My husband just bought a 2020 Silverado and his iPhone Xs doesn't do this.  He is also running 13.3.  Did they fix the problem with the 2020's?  I hate having to remember to turn my volume back up when I leave the car.  It does this no matter if using bluetooth or carplay.

I have a 2020 GMC 2500 HD Denali and it does the same thing—turns my phone to mute or zero bars of volume.   Called the “specialist” at GMC and they had no answer, and acted like it I was the first person to ever have this problem.  Seems to be some glitchy issues with this system, as it also fails to download all my contacts.

this doesn't work for me...i've tried it multiple times when people call but it still reverts back to lowering the volume next time i start it...

Yes.

When your phone connects via Bluetooth, you adjust the phone ringtone volume with the trucks volume controls. As your phone is ringing in the truck, turn the volume up to your desired level. Once that setting is set, it will stay at that level every time to connect to the vehicle. Your phone will still show that the volume is low but the truck ringtone will be at the level you set it at.

I keep my iPhone on silent mode all the time but as soon as it connects to the truck, my normal ringtone will play through the trucks speakers at the volume I set with the trucks volume controls.

Same problem here.
I have a 2019 GMC Sierra.   Bluetooth is turned on ( IPhone 11.  Software 13.3), every time I leave the truck, sound bar goes to 0.  I even had the phone replaced!
I’ve spoken to Apple and we went through numerous “fixes” but nothing works.  Allie said that it was a GMC problem.  Really a pain to remember to reset the phone upon leaving the truck

I have an iphone 8 plus and the volume thing happens in my 20 SLT all the time. I guess your husband is one of the lucky ones.

I called Onstar about this and was told that it is a problem with the radio and the dealer's service department will have to make adjustments to your radio.

I have the exact same issue.  I bought a 2020 AT4  a couple of weeks ago and have this issue every time.  I called Apple and they said it's a problem with the vehicle, not the phone.  Anyone found a fix yet?

I just got off a chat with GM Support.  "This is not a known issue or common problem that has been reported."  Please everyone go to the GMC or Chevy website, go to support, and chat with them or send them the issue.  They aren't going to fix it unless we all start raising hell about it.

That’s bull. They know about it and there is no fix other than changing the setting on the IPhone that locks out the side buttons for ringer volume. It’s a well known issue that all dealers are aware of.

I've had the ringer volume turned down even with the side buttons disabled.  I recently switched to an iPhone from Android and the first time it happened, I couldn't figure out how to turn the ringer volume back up because the side buttons were disabled.  On Android when you change the volume with the side button, you can expand the volume level icon pop-up and individually change the volume of the ringer, alerts, and media.  Had to have my 10 year old teach me the ways of iOS...

I will go to GM Support today to report the issue.

Just got off the Support Chat.  Was given instructions to 'reset' my radio and told if that didn't work to take it to a dealer.

I am currently on chat support with GMC and here is what they told me. I have a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. Really GM????

It seems that the Infotainment system supports only selected iPhones, and XS is not yet compatible with it which could be the reason why the issue with the volume keeps on happening.

Sounds like a cop out to me.  I have the latest iPhone and a 2020 GMC...how are the latest of both tools not compatible?  What a bunch of crap.

Right? The iPhone Xs came out before the 2019 GMC. I never had this issue on my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT that I had before my 2019 Denali. Why can't they just look in their software to figure it out. It isn't an Apple issue, it is a GMC issue.
