Same issue here.  Has anyone found a solution other than disabling the ringer volume by side buttons option?

Well finding this thread ,now I know I am not crazy.

Bought the truck about 6 weeks ago and the first few times I connected via Bluetooth with my iphone,  I found my volume down.

Thought I accidently turned the volume down myself at first but started thinking it might be an issue with the radio.

Didn't really had time to look into it and in the mean time

I updated the iphone trough  the new software notice on my phone and I noticed that I don't have that issue anymore.Well  for now the issue seems to be resolved.

I personally linked the correction of the issue to the phone's software update. Maybe I am wrong but I think it's worth the try .

I have iOS 12.3.1 and still same problem. My dealership maintenance department tells me it’s a wide known issue, but GM has yet to fix it. My 2016 Silverado did not do this. I have noticed this radio seems to somehow take complete control over my phone volume.  The phone thinks this radio is a pair of Bluetooth headphones and not a radio. I can adjust the volume on my radio and watch the volume icon on my phone change. Whatever is causing this, it needs to be fixed ASAP. I’m still thinking it’s the truck radio.

Mine started doing this at about 2500 miles as I didn't notice it before then.  The ONLY time it doesn't do this is if I am listening to music on my phone in the truck and then shut off the truck.  Then when I get back into the truck and start it, it reconnects and the volume is right where I left it and the music picks up right where it stopped. ...which is pretty nice.

However, I have missed many calls because the volume is so low I cannot hear the phone ringing at all when its connected and I only catch the call if I happen to look over at the infotainment screen.

I still am ok for now.if ever you get a fix from dealer let us know. I will get mine checked so it doesn’t happen again.

I have a 2019 Silerado.  Same problem.  When connected to bluetooth in the truck, the volume turns down but does not turn up when exiting the truck.  I think it is the safety nazis at GM that have set the infotainment system to cut the volume down when on bluetooth so that if you receive a text or email you not receive the notification and look at it.  It is a major pain.  Have missed a bunch of calls.  GM should not do this.  It should be an option and be able to disable by the vehicle owner!

Wait, if it's connected to Bluetooth in the truck why would you be missing calls?

Because the only way you know someone is calling is the music goes off, no sound and maybe a phone number will show up on truck display.

Have to reach over and turn volume up on truck to hear whoever is calling.

Not only 2019’s. We have a 2020 2500HD. Same issue

The calls are missed when you leave the truck.  The phone volume can be wide open when you get in the truck and will automatically go to zero when it connects to bluetooth.  When you get out of the truck it stays at zero.  I do not set my iphone to vibrate unless I switch it to silent.  So when you get out of the truck with the volume changed to zero, it does not ring or notify you of any text or emails unless you turn the volume up when you get out of the truck.  This is why the calls are missed.  I have not found any setting on the truck or my iphone to change this.

Oh, ok, I understand, the way I read it is when you're connected to bluetooth you've missed calls. I didn't realize when you've left the vehicle. Sorry, my misunderstand.

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
