So is it counter clockwise or clockwise??

Mine was clockwise, which was rotating it towards the front of the truck.

Exhaust Mod:Frio Edition.

dB levels were captured before and after mod in same place. Flapper open.

Frio Light, LOL! Nicely done!

Thanks for measuring the dB on this. I was curious about that myself. 4 dB improvement while idling is pretty good.

Was that on the cold start? I really notice that it's louder on the cold starts. Sounds really good.

No cold start was definitely louder. I waited till it was a true idle before measuring

Just look to see which direction you turn it makes the spring load up more tightly. That's the way you want to turn it. Mine was clockwise to do that.

Add me to the list. Just finished doing this cheap mod. Had everything except a few clamps so it cost me under 10 bucks. Haven’t tried it out yet. I met resistance turning clockwise. Will report back

I'm wondering if there's a way we could buzz that little notch off on the flapper valve? The part that sticks out by the welded end, which gives compression to the spring? You cut that off and the spring will loose it's pressure, meaning you won't have to worry about those clamps loosening over time and the valve slowly shutting.

It's probably unlikely that the clamps would lose bite and allow that, but it was something I thought to check after a few days of running mine wide open.

Then again, I did tighten my clamps down with my cordless impact, ha.

Of note, I have noticed that my exhaust has been crackling and popping a bit when coasting into a traffic light to make a turn. Didn't do that with the flapper in it's regular position.

I tried removing the last mesh screen cover to see if that might make it stop.

Never knew about the res screens... I have a flowmaster 40 series muffler I installed a while back, but just covered the screens w AC tape...  much deeper tone...

Thanks for the idea...

For you beer can users... Ghetto fab... Strong work.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't noticed that yet. I'll report back if I do.

I thought about it but then the Texas in me wanted everyone to see the Frio label. Maybe Frio will sponsor me.

Redid the flapper this time clockwise, dB shot up to 66-67.

That makes a lot of sense. Opening that thing up really makes the biggest difference. ??
