I am having the same problem. However I have noticed it is slowly getting worse and I believe it is because of the condensation from the a/c pours on the exhaust crossover pipe after I park my truck. I know for fact that I haven’t hit anything. The top and bottom look like they are being beaten with a hammer. And I believe it’s because the cold water pouring in it is cooling it fast making it expand or contract. Has anyone had the issue with the condensation pouring on their pipes?

Yes just about everyone that owns a 19+ GM truck. People have been asking the same question since these trucks came out! It's the way it was designed unfortunately. Some believe it is that way so the condensate doesn't pool up under the truck when parked.

Those pipes have been smashed since 2001 or so. I have an early 2000 model 5.3 that isn`t smashed. Just about impossible to get the trans pan out. With the smashed pipe, comes right out.

Yes sir and thank you. My main question is does the condensation pouring on the exhaust pipe cause the dents and crushing that I’m seeing by cooling the pipe very fast causing expansion or contraction or something like that?
