Do you regret getting a black truck?

Here is my 2015. A good ceramic coating and lots of wax/detailer and they stay pretty clean, unless you live on a dirt road. Never polished, no spider webs.

Always a white fan until I saw Satin Steel.  Like the color, had hood, grill , bumper and fenders wrapped in 3m.

33x12.5R20 Pro Comp All Terrains. I am not a fan of the tread or size. My wet traction is zero, in winter you cant even move, terrible fuel economy, they throw massive rocks far worse than my old mud tires. But they have good tread wear, quiet, and they were dirt cheap. On dry pavement I haven't found their grip limitation yet, it feels like a sports car. The 12.5 section width displaces too much weight for traction in wet conditions. Its like driving a ZL1 with 305's in the rain. I paid $1,000 CAD for this set of tires new, that's about $750usd. 

 

My next set will be 295/55 or 60 R20 Fierce Attitude M/T's if I keep the truck long enough. 

 

The biggest factor in owning a black vehicle is to know how to wash and care for them properly, 3 bucket method and most importantly grit guards. I routinely watch AMMO NYC's videos on YouTube and follow his techniques as reasonable as I can (I am washing a truck, not a Ferrari Enzo). If you get the proper set up at home it is very easy. I am lucky in the sense that I have a 2 bay truck shop with a commercial heated pressure washer, so I have the place and time on Sundays to do it. Exterior I usually spend 2-3 hours if I am waxing and interior usually takes about 2hrs as well to keep it looking showroom fresh. Your wallet will thank you at trade in time.

I owned 2 GM black trucks before my 05 which was dark grey metallic and my 14 which is basically the same with Iridium. Much prefer metallic paints over regular colors like black, nothing pops better than a metallic paint in the sun.

If the spots turn orange, it is usually rail dust (fall out) from railcar transport. Tiny pieces of metal fly off the steel of the wheels and rails and wind deposits it on the vehicle (yes, even inside the car carriers). Dealers have a "Fall Out" remover or you could just clay your truck to remove it all.

If the spots turn orange, it is usually rail dust (fall out) from railcar transport. Tiny pieces of metal fly off the steel of the wheels and rails and wind deposits it on the vehicle (yes, even inside the car carriers). Dealers have a "Fall Out" remover or you could just clay your truck to remove it all.

Yeah looks similar to rail dust, but definitely from road tar long after the train ride from the factory.

Interesting; never seen road tar turn orange; our's remains the sticky pain in the butt black it starts out as. I wonder if your area adds slag to the black top pavement they use? Slag can sometimes have very small metal remnants in it. Do you have a steel plant in the area?

No but I bet the steel wear bar on the snow plows four months a year makes lots of metal in the air. Notice it most after winter, car will be covered in orange dots. I use carpro solution to get it off. Spray it on and anywhere there is tar it turns purple and then you can scrub it off with a clay bar.

No regrets.  I guess I'm not as picky and it not being perfect doesn't bother me.

Black is the sharpest color for a Silverado Custom. I looked at other colors and none looked as sharp as black.

 

Black is beautiful. When it's clean... But trucks aren't supposed to be clean (at least that's what I keep telling myself?).

 

After the first couple of months I don't mind anymore when it gets dirty. It makes me think it's being used the way it's supposed to be used. I just wash it once a week whether it needs it or not (and it always needs it).

 

My next truck will be a higher trim model, and will NOT be black.

Drove a 2020 trail boss in black tonight. Love the new 10 speed. Not sure I can wait till the strike is over to get one in satin steel.
