Transmission problems

What transmission do you have? I'm going to guess 8 speed? How many miles? Have you disconnected the battery recently?

These new transmissions adapt and 'learn' your driving habits over a few hundred miles, if your wife drives like a grandma and you hammer down, it may confuse the trans a bit while it goes through this process. It will also have to relearn and go through this process every time you disconnect the battery. If the clunks persist for a week or two ask your dealer if their are any software updates for your trans. My '15 K2 8 speed has had the TC replaced and later a new transmission all in less than 20,000 miles, I have heard they are better now. Hope its just a relearn and not an actual problem for yours, keep us posted.

There are multiple engine/transmission combinations.  When asking a question such as yours, you really need to provide enough relevant information in order to get the best possible answer.  In fact, you should put that information in your profile so that it can be seen by others.

Thanks for the response, I also have 20,000 mile on my truck and am the only driver. I’m also an older guy and don’t romp on my vehicles anymore. I drive nice and easy.

It's my experience, even as an older guy, that these trucks need to be romped on.  They behave better.

The old Italian Tuneup

I picked up my 19' LTZ during Labor Day weekend.  I noticed it on mine within a few days and have been dealing with the dealer on it.

They indicated GM was well aware and working on a program update.  Reached back out in October and they indicated the strike put everything on hold.  Spoke with them again last week and they said they heard rumblings of a program update in the coming weeks, but committed to nothing.

I plan on reaching out every month until a repair is made.  I assume, if no fix is made available, I will start raising hell in Q1.  Not sure what options I would have, but might start with a lawyer.  I have all my calls/texts/emails documented on my end.

It's a PITA for me since I drive in rush hour to and from work, it damn near feels like your being rear ended sometimes.  It is the only thing on the truck that I don't like.  If and when it gets fixed, I'll go back to a satisfied customer.

When i first bought my '19 5.3 8 speed if I was going very slow and it shifted into 2nd, it would slam into gear basically throwing the truck forward a bit. It seemed to mellow out after a few hundred miles...now have 5k and don't notice it as often..but once in a while it will catch me off guard...no other issues. Ill be back for a oil change soon, and ask the dealer if there is an update.

Ive been bringing it in also. It is a PITA. Driving into philly yesterday, 476 stop and go traffic for 45mins and i about had enough of this damn trans. It cant decided what, when, or how to shift in traffic at low speeds (5-20mph).  Im about ready to flip the f out.
