Good Deal?

So I finally made the decision to go with a 2020 2500 LT with the 6.6L gas engine.  After negotiating with the dealership, their best price for the truck (including destination) was $51,321.  Options are as follows:

  • Convenience Package I
  • Convenience Package II
  • Safety Package
  • Leather Package
  • Dark Essentials Package
  • Sunroof
  • Spray-On Bedliner
  • Power Folding Mirrors
  • Autotrac
  • Skid Plate
  • 20" High Gloss Wheels with Black Painted Accents
  • 4" Black Assist Steps
  • Amber Marker Lights
  • Splash Guards

Basically I got 10% off MSRP for the truck.  Should I be going after the Dealer for more?  Thought I was getting a good deal until I read others on this forum were getting 16% off in some cases.  I must suck at negotiating!

The incentives on these are still fairly slim. Occasionally, you may see a larger discount off MSRP, but I think your 10% is pretty good right now.

If you are comfortable with the price, and like the truck, buy it.

If you don't, someone else will.

idk, I am type to wait and get better discount or keep searching, I would try to get best possible deal, if I was rich whateves who cares, but if I can pay 5,10,15k less why wouldn't I....its same truck regardless what you pay....that's just me though

Right now on a 6.6L Gasser, that is a pretty good deal. My neighbor was shopping for a 6.6L Gasser at the end of last month and was not finding very much for discounts. I think that is a pretty loaded LT for the price. I got about 7.5% off my LT's MSRP back in September. And most of that was mainly being a long term repeat buyer from my dealer and taking what he had on his lot at the time.

So it stickered around 57k? That is a decent deal at present time. If your not in a hurry I think time is on your side for a better deal. Ford's new gasser will slow enthusiasm/demand as will additional inventory as the strike becomes more distant.

MSRP was $57,045 with all the options on it.  I feel like it's a pretty fair deal.  I tried to get a little more but couldn't get them to budge.  I ordered the truck today!  Hopefully will have it sometime in March.  Gonna be a long wait!

If you ordered it, when it actually comes in there could be better incentives that you maybe be able to utilize when it lands on the dealer lot.  I've never ordered a truck, just have had them dealer trade units. How does financial stuff work when you order it? Do you "pay" upfront? When I looked into ordering, the dealer i was looking at said that if the incentives were better when the truck arrived then could use them. But they still ended up dealer trading for my unit.

Congrats! Id say that’s a decent deal especially if it’s a custom order. Typically dealers don’t negotiate as much on custom orders... in my experience at least.

I simply went to chevrolet.com, built the truck I wanted, printed the summary page that listed all the options and brought it to the Dealer.  We negotiated the price and ordered the truck...no money exchanged.  Salesman (who is kind of a friend of mine) told me that if the incentives are better when the truck arrives, I'll get those too.  So, $51,321 is worst-case for me.  Hoping the incentives get a bit better in March.  Will have to wait and see though.  I've never ordered a vehicle before.  Am I supposed to get something from Chevy that will allow me to track the progress of the build?  I don't want to keep bugging the Dealership.

I paid $50k CAD for my 2018 CCLB Base +, with free seat covers, weathertech mats, gooseneck package. Which works out to $38,200 USD. I would keep searching around, not really any good incentives on the 2020's yet. Still pretty bad incentives on the leftover 2019's in my area tbh.

I go a similar route with my personal trucks, but rather than build to order, I give them a list of things I need like, 2015 All Terrain w/6.2L, black exterior/interior, 20" snowflake wheels and no sunroof. They never have my truck in stock but they enter those specs in there system and it will show them country wide who has one that meets the criteria, then they do a "inventory trade" with the other dealer to get me the truck I want at the incentives I want, all within a week.

You can get the build # from your dealer and then go to gm.com,  find the chat box, it's usually in lower right had of screen. They can track it and give updates on what event code it is at and a certain point they will give you a target production week.
