I’ve seen a few other posts but no updates or resolutions.  My 2021 Sierra 2500 SLE has to have the worst seat I have ever sat it, the more I drive it the more I hate it!  I’m hoping that somebody will tell me the seat will break in after a couple thousand miles???

This is my 5th GM truck since 2005 and the seat is the worst yet. It’s rock hard and makes my legs fall asleep and my thighs cramp up, it’s like the seat base is too short and the angles are just wrong. I just can’t seem to find comfortable.

This is the main reason I ended up in a Denali. all the other models have a seat that is shorter by maybe an 1". the dealer did not believe me until they pulled a measuring tape and found it out.

For me, this makes all of the difference in the world. it is the most comfortable vehicle I ever owned, and it kept me happy on long drive days, towing an RV behind.

the seats are like a rock and no they dont break in......I always felt the seat base is too short as well and agree for some reason they really missed ergonomics of steering wheel and seating relationship along with seat...the power seat when it goes up it tilts forward so its not really independent......which seems really odd since they been building trucks forever.....i will most likely get seat covers and use a pad.....maybe in year or so they break in better which if so would be totally worth it

or just find a wrecked denali and swap seats, lol.....(did not know denali seats were longer)

I mentioned this after a test drive and got flamed.

Yep, they are kindergarten sized stones.

I have an AT4 and yes the seat is awful. I feel it’s the lane departure vibrators that are in the sides that make it so hard. If there was a way to delete them if it made it better I would.

Mine, the front of switch raises/lowers front of seat, back of switch raises/lowers back of seat.

I find it necessary to mess with height of front and back to find a position I like.

Wheel tilts and telescopes.

Haven't done any 'in the seat' sessions longer than about 90 minutes, but so far I'm finding the '21 seat more comfortable than the '18 .  Both trucks Denali trim.

I currently have an AT4 on order.  However, GM hasn't "picked up" the allocation so I still have time to change it.  This thread had me worried so I had my dealer go out and take a pic of the AT4 and a Denali seat.  I'm not seeing a difference, personally, other than the brown insert on the AT4.

What am I missing?

i have same but even raising it straight up it still tilts forward......denali sounds like whole different animal with better seats altogether......my wheel does same but my tundra had independent function for this......i cant see the guages unless i get the wheel super tall in silverado.......messing with mine for months trying to find a "good spot"......seat base length and foam is most of culprit......you get another inch and softer seats so sure that helps

I'm still not seeing how the Denali seat is any different.  Maybe something changed in 2021?

Quality of leather?  Maybe.  But in my experience, (Yukon Denali's over the years) their leather isn't much different than LTZ Yukons, etc.

My images above also do not show a huge different in leather quality, seat adjustments, sizes, etc.

Doesn't the wheel tilt enough to see gauges?

Is it the telescoping or non-telescoping?

(telescope optional on LT, but all trims have tilt)

EDIT to add: power seat or manual seat?

In my case, I have a power seat and it’s a 3 way problem between the seat firmness, the adjustment or lack independent adjustment and the steering tilt/telescope.

The seat is rock hard and could be a touch longer in the base.  The adjust up and down has too much tilt forward when going up and not enough tilt back when going down(for me) and the steering wheel doesn’t come back far enough, so I am stuck between reaching for the wheel or having my legs cramped up into the peddles. Either position seems worse because the seat is damn hard.

Material is different, but same adjuster on SLT/AT4/Denali.

Material description -

SLT/AT4/LTZ/HC -- Perforated Leather-appointed front seats

Denali -- Forge Perforated Leather-appointed

Can't imagine that the material makes them 'ride' better.

All the above have the a 10-way power  djuster.

(there used to also be a 12-way on K2 Denali, but it seems to have disappeared for the current ones)

The seats in the T1's just outright 100% plainly suck and I could tell the second I sat in one the measurements were just not going to allow for a good seating position Base height etc. Foam, materials...absolute garbage!

    • I only have a few of the ACDelco blue remaining. One or two of the (old, old) ACDelco Professional boxes, and a couple of the newer style GM boxes with the simulcast in Chinese along with English. FWIW they've all been pretty good, regardless of where they are made, and in 20 years I've never had a problem with an e-core filter.   Now I have a couple of the "A" series in my home inventory. They come in a plain white box with the GM hologram sticker and model information. Have not installed one yet, want to use up my oldest inventory first.

    • I've been eyeing an upgrade to my tonneau cover for a bit now.  Intrigued by the BAK MX4 EZ-Lift with the torsion spring and went for the upgrade.  Thoughts and musings during unpacking, install and a few days of usage.   Once my order went into Realtruck, it took about 4 days to ship.  Unfortunately, FedEx Ground destroyed the box and contents and it was unusable upon receipt.  To Realtruck's credit, one email with pictures and an RMA was sent to me to send the first one back, and another unit was shipped out.  It arrived 3 days later, unscathed.   I opened the box and it looked like every other BAK MX4.   Biggest differences are the rails and retaining clamps, and of course the spring attached to the cover itself.     NOTE - if you are upgrading from a MX4 to the EZ-Lift, you will have to replace the rails.  The EZ-Lift rails have a notch cut in them to allow the new style retaining clamps to fit properly.  The new retaining clamps also have 2 knobs/carriage bolts and there are two tracks underneath the front panel. The strap clips are mildly different (more like the Undercover Flex clamps) in that the screws go in from the underside.  Personally I prefer these over the BAK clamps that use the nutserts that are a nuisance to install.  The remainder of the parts in the box (drain tubes, rail clamps, and bumper pads) are standard issue BAK.     I did not replace my front bed seal at the time because it seemed to be in decent shape.   BAK recommends shims on the GM trucks unless you place the clamps on the flanges about 1/3 of the way in from both the front and rear of the bed.  I shimmed the front and the middle, and initially placed the clamps equidistant.  This also turned out to be a mistake, because when I set the cover in place, the new style retaining clamps wouldn't clear the front clamp.   New style clamp inserted in the track:     And the issue which occurred because the front rail clamp was too far forward:     Once I removed the shim from the front of the bed, and slid the clamp back to the front flange, everything cleared fine.     The cover set on the rails without issue and I installed the strap clamps.  After I completed my adjustments, I pulled the pin to activate the torsion spring.  Mistake #3 on my part.  PULL THE PIN AS THE VERY VERY VERY LAST STEP!  The reason is, once you pull the pin, the torsion spring is activated.  If you have to loosen the front clamps and adjust the cover, the front panel will - by virtue of the spring, refuse to lay down.  The only way to get it to lay down so you can reinstall and tighten the clamps is to fully open the panel against the back of the cab, which will then allow the front panel of the cover to lay down and be tightened.  Not a big deal unless you haven't installed the foam pads yet (typically the last step) because minus the foam pads, you will need to place something between the frame of the cover and the back window so it doesn't get scratched.  The next time I install one I will install the foam pads before I pull the pin and activate the spring.   After using it for a few days:   The spring assist is great.  You literally can open it with one hand.  My shoulders aren't getting any younger and this was part of my motivation to swap out. The second panel latches and unlatches itself as you open and close the cover.  Neat in concept, however it took me a minute to get used to closing the cover and not hearing the "latching" sound that would tell me it was locked in place. The paddle handles are a huge upgrade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become the standard across the Realtruck line.  They effectively eliminate the concern that a thief could coat hanger the cover open and get to the contents in the bed. I'm not sure why the very front panel on my cover has a different finish from the other 3 panels.  I have a request into Realtruck to find out if mine was not manufactured properly or if it was by design.   All in all I'm pleased.  Same level of protection, looks good, keeps stuff mostly dry (they all leak around the tailgate) and easy to install.
