Total price of vehicle (not msrp), trade in does not reduce tax

That would be annoying...

Do they also have tax on selling price of used ones or are used ones exempt?

Here, tax is based on MSRP so getting $10k off won't do a thing.

I'm in California.. now if I show the DMV the papers showing the price I paid and brought in a new vehicle from out of the state, it's possible my taxes would be lower... will find out when my truck is done in 6-9 months from now.

That would be even more annoying....

Used vehicles are taxed before any trade in.  Over the lifetime ofmost vehicles the state will make more money on taxes than the car company made on the vehicle.

Here where we have purchased all our vehicles the dealership is now Team Chevrolet of Goldsboro.  It's changed owner ship several times in the past 30yrs. We have been buying from them since 1998.  I just called and talked to Craig Doubt who I have been dealing with since the beginning and they are selling at MSRP to all NC residents, except the corvette and any trucks with lift packages on them.  Out of state one would have to call and see what they are offering.  Not sure why that makes a difference.  So if someone is trying to find a truck/SUV and live in NC this might be an option.  919-751-2200 ext 412   I know there are dealerships selling under MSRP but if this place has what one is looking for at least they are not charging over MSRP.  Craig has been the best and we got great deals, but times are not what they used to be and  he is limited on what he can do but it might be worth a shot just to check if you are close and in NC.

Nathan is spot on about Robideaux Motors in Coeur d'Alene. I drove from Montana to pick up my AT4.

They had what I wanted in stock (it had arrived the afternoon before) and had excellent pricing as well.

Not trying to make this sound like an infomercial but RM was great to deal with.

I'll attach a picture of the day I picked up my truck. I was parked at a little roadside Mexican food place in CDA (killer burritos!).

Badass looking truck, I just ordered a GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate today as well.  I got 4k off MSRP, no clue when it will get built but I got the diesel with it.  That's two I've ordered from Robideaux Motors in 2 months.  I just changed my build on my Yukon and MIke was awesome to work with.  Pam is customer service and helps with builds but talk to Mike and tell them Nate sent you, I'll get a referral for it.

Thanks. Loving the truck so far.

I dealt with Mike as well. Good guy.

Give it 6 months to a year and these dealers will be back at putting 16+k on the hoods to push inventory, it is already starting to get ugly for all makes in this country as inventory starts to pile up. Been watching youtubers in the used market who are seeing multiple dealers now dumping brand new inventory at the auctions to try and move it.

The car pro radio show I listen to says the used vehicle market is about to take a hit, big time. The reason is repos are up. Which is going to saturate the market. Add to that all the people who like to trade in for new every couple of years are going to be way upside down. From over paying the last two years as inventory comes back up. Meaning discounts to push the new vehicles they can’t sell because people can’t trade in their way upside down used vehicles. The people who waited this inflated market out. Are going to make out like bandits. I tried to warn people.

Well kind of, because interest rates are going to soak up much of the discount price and considering these manufactures all used the covid excuse to drive up msrp's 10+%, because they were jealous seeing their dealer networks reaping the benefits of high demand, even when they place high rebates on the hoods it will be tough to push this inventory out.

You will be forced to larger volume dealers who can work to get the best rates possible, smaller dealers and used car lots will all be out of business soon imo!

Because of the high level of competition, dealers try to attract buyers in any way they can. I, too, have seen such offers when a company offers a price much lower than others, and it has always made me wary. This summer I decided to buy a car because I was working and had saved good money. I also had an old Nissan in my garage, which was inherited from my father. This Nissan was in terrible condition, and I decided to sell it. I found a reliable company and received cash for car hamilton very quickly. I used the money from the sale of the car to buy a new car.

Excellent first post, Mr. Bot.

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
