Eh, I don't know. Oil just shot up over $3 a barrel because people "question" that something may happen. No actual facts or data to prove that it will happen but just a thought is what caused a spike in prices in maybe 30min time.

Good news that will counter fuel price rise for taxpayers.

Today's CBO report projects
that the deficit this year will
fall by $1.7 trillion-
the single
largest nominal reduction in
the federal deficit in
American history.

As a real fiscal conservative I’m wondering why aren’t we hearing this?
Maybe Brandon ain’t so bad in reality?

Conservatives and Joe Manchin are to thank for this, not the White House. Brandon supported ramming through 3 trillion more in stimulus. If he got his wish, goodbye deficit reduction.

Applauding this is like thanking an arsonist who ran out of gas before he could burn my house down.

Brandon says we are in a period of transition away from fossil fuels.  They don't want the price of gasoline to come down, it goes against their master plan.

100% agree there loving the high prices, also they don't pay for gas we do through our taxes.

Lies and the stretching of truth, usual for this group. Here is the actual true outlook for this country moving forward and boy does it not look good at all.

Quote

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its Budget and Economic Outlook today. CBO projects high rates of inflation will bring the national debt to a low of 96 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023 before rising to a record 110 percent of GDP by 2032. CBO projects the deficit will total $1 trillion in 2022 and nearly $16 trillion over the subsequent decade under current law, while CPI inflation will be 4.7 percent in 2022 and 2.7 percent in 2023. Unpaid-for extensions of expiring legislation, spending increases, or tax cuts would make the fiscal outlook even worse. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget will publish our preliminary analysis here and provide further analysis later in the day.

You made my point. It’s not the president that makes any meaningful  effect.
Congress does.
The Brandon comment is for the OP changing his handle to FJB =F JOE BIDEN.

Ah ok Bro. Deficit and Debt two different things.
The ignorant neo populist facist views that are accepted now online via misinfo are powerful brainwashing.
What ruined real honest conservatism.

His executive order pen, and his senate tie breaking sidekick has had plenty of negative meaningful effects.

Just love that. Trump was apparently responsible for every single Covid death, but innocent addled JB isn’t responsible for anything? Not the war breaking out, not the gas prices, not inflation. Not even the much higher number of Covid deaths. Nothing.

Equivocate much?

Which one has tried to overtly overthrow the constitution and stop the electoral certification on Jan 6?

Here's the deal, I am conservative but know a wanker of a fraud that wanted to be re-elected AT ANY COST, when I see one.

If you believe that the election fraud lie after 62 law suits and each states AG certified that the studdering Brandon one won, well you are thick. And a minority.

The lies need to stop and party or ideology be damned when it causes our country to nearly be thrown into a constitutional crisis.

Try informing ourselves to truth not BS.  Unless we collectively  want an authoritarian US.

I fought for THE US constitution, no man, no BS, no party.

Congress is responsible for not holding Presidents accountable and the Executive is not over arching vs Legislative and Judicial branches.  No matter what we might believe and hear on miss-information driven media.

Why mention all this in a gas prices thread, because the believers in the BIG LIE keep slipping in your missinfo every chance you get, so here's a different idea. TRUTH.

price at the fuel dock in Beverly harbor. diesel $6.59, 87 $5.69  there will be lots of boats sitting still this summer

It’s obvious some summer vacations will be effective by gas prices. It came to mind the camper industry. Just a couple years ago they were booming with the Covid outbreak. I visited a few myself. There’s a few camper sales lots around me. They have  expanded and are full. The future is looking bleak for them no doubt.

$4.49 at COSTCO this AM. Same price in Rochelle at 3 stations. 87 E-10 Others as high as $5.09

Diesel running $5.07 to $5.39

E85 $3.19 to $4.49

Been stuck around $4.49 regular. Sam’s is only 10 cents less. Not going to be worth the trip down there this week, so I topped up to full from 3/4 tank with 87 E10. This brings my octane down to 91 which is the minimum required. If the station had 88 E15 I could have saved more, both in cost per gallon, and the ability to dilute a little bit more than 3:1.

    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
    • apparently CA smog is (or at least was)  checking that the vehicle is using the oem and/or a ca smog approved tune, so I expect you'll fail inspection doing it.
    • yes, leaking exhaust will mess up o2 sensor readings, which in turn messes up fuel trims.
    • 286,740 Mile Services   8/6/2026   New AC Compressor. Refrigerant oil and dye, evacuate and charge system.  New exhaust system from cat back.  New Iridium plugs plus replace #3 coil Repair/rewire headlamp wiring (passenger side) and replace all forward bulbs. Polish lenses of both assemblies.  Pull rear rotors, clean and adjust parking assembly. Inspect, clean and grease front calipers. Check pads and shoes.  4 wheel power bleed of brake system. Dot 4 Reset idle speed 50 rpm higher New Serpentine belt.    Will need new pads in the rear in about 5K more miles.    Tax Title and License out the door just short of a grand.    AC clutch had bitten the dust. 1 year warranty on the pick and save replacement. Thing will make a Polar Bear cry Uncle.  He spent quite some time on the wiring. It was in the harness and he does nothing half. I got off cheap. I have considerable more light down the road. Sylvania Silver Star replacements.  Gas seal between the porcelain and shell of plug #3 was blown, cooked the coil. That was the cold miss.  Love the new exhaust. I can sneak into the neighborhood again.  Nice to have a working parking brake again. Belle Tire never got it done. That was disappointing.    This was one of her bigger bills and still way cheaper than a payment even given the oil consumption. This thing cost me under a hundred a month in repairs and normal routine costs. What is my incentive to replace it? 🤔
