  1. I have been trying to keep track of my mileage each time I fill up. I posted my towing mileage a few weeks back and thought I would post my hand calculated mileage for non towing, everyday driving along with what my computer reads. Everytime I fill up I set the pump to fill then when it shuts off I wait 30 seconds and let it run again until it shuts off. I then take a picture of the gallons on the pump and my trip odometer for that tank. I then reset my trip for the next tank. I commute to work M-F and then drive the family around on weekends. My commute is approximately 30 miles one way and I drive a mix of highway/back roads and in the city. For those who are curious on what you might expect if you purchase a GMC with the 3.0 diesel here are the results. I kept track of 4224.7 miles of general driving with my truck. I used 170.203 gallons of fuel. My hand calculated mileage was 24.82 and the trucks computer read 23.69 MPG. I have about 8200 miles on my truck as of today. Attached is the spreadsheet with all the details. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  2. Hi. Just picked up a 2020 silverado trailboss w/a 6.2l. Shadow gray with black leather. Has everthing except a sunroof (oh well, could have waited), but these things are hard to find! Traded my ZO6 (already miss her!).

  3. He literally is ridiculing people for not needing the longer bed and having a crew cab. People are responding harshly to him because he was being an ass about it and pulling the whole "not a real man" crap because people need room for their family and/or only need the short bed. I dont think anyone was attacking him for needing the double cab with longer bed, just saying that a lot of people dont need that. He just ignores it and tells people they are stupid. Hopefully just a troll. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  7. Does anybody actually care if someone else buys a DC or CC with their own money? I surely do not GAF. I buy what I want with my money and if you don't like it, I don't care. GM trucks all have their "wish (fill in the blank) was better/available" items, but overall, I'm so blessed to be able to buy a new GM truck, and very pleased that they pushed my schedule up due to the COVID-19 sales on the 2020's. Can't beat those prices. My first truck I ever bought was a used 76 GMC single cab with the camper hauler special package which was a 2WD with 3/4 ton rear end and suspension stuff under it out back with dual fuel tanks along with a 454/TH400 which needed those dual tanks. Has ps/pb, limited slip rear end, tilt wheel and A/C and even cruise control. That's about it. The 454 died so I put a 502 crate motor in it and woke its butt right on up. But that was yesteryear. Today's new trucks have something for everyone. If you like DC, great, go buy one if you can. If you like CC, go get one. Why fight with each other. If you want to do that, go buy a RAM or god-forbid, a FORD. Then it's fight-worthy. Those trucks are needed to keep GM going to try and one-up them. Without that competition, GM trucks would suck worse than you think they already do. I am looking forward to the new dashboards whenever they come along. Although I got a sneaky suspicion they're still going to find a way to put something we all won't like on it. Hope they prove me wrong.

  8. Yesterday I decided to wash her with Meguiars Ultimate Wash and wax, air dry her, then Meguiars Ultimate detailer spay. I took off my wheels and slapped on Bogart's "Terminator Special" D-10s on. Before doing so, I gave the inner fender wells some needed attention by using some degreaser, scrubbing, rinsing off, drying, and then applying Chemical Guys Barebones on to bring out the shine.

  9. Added 2.5" front level kit and a 2" rear block lift. Love the new stance! Made plenty room for some 33's now.

  10. So, from that article, it's unclear if/what the problem is, as those labs could be: -reporting all/virtually all results as positive (as in, with a whole bunch of false-positives) -only reporting positives, and not reporting negative results (so, the "regular"/expected number of false-positives for whatever method of testing they use, just the positivity rate stat looks bad). Given that the state is run by a guy who wants to have Trump's babies, and would be all over it if those labs were reporting huge numbers of false positives (nevermind doctors who are depending on those labs for testing), it probably is more likely the second. Or are we supposed to ignore the fact that a whole bunch of Florida's hospitals & icu units are full up with covid patients. Or it's just a coincidence...

  11. Finally after 3 weeks of waiting on parts I got my 6inch Fabtech installed. Bought the Opt7 grille kit and installed it directly behind the Chevrolet letters. I’m working on fabricating a close out panel to mount behind the letters to block the light from shining into the entire grille so that only the letters light up. If anyone is looking for a great lighting kit then get the opt7. I can turn the lights on from as far away as in my house with the remote and the quality is ten times better than the other China made crap sold on Amazon.

  12. If gas mileage and fancy features are your only concerns, get the GM. If you want to get 130k+ miles out of it, Toyota would be the only way to go.

  16. There are a few videos floating around of single cabs with the new gen V6 running door to door with intake/ tune/ header previous gen 5.3 and 6.0 swapped single cabs. They are honestly pretty impressive 6 cylinders considering no one makes anything at all for them.Yeah the new gen 5.3 are a little peppier but its still the lowest performing 8 cylinder on the market right now so thats not really saying much.If you are worried about performance and are somehow blown away by the 5.3 over the V6 I would say your butt is just way too sensitive because its splitting hairs IMO

  17. I love chrome more than black by FAR!! But here in the Midwest, I have gone through 2 sets of chrome wheels on my trucks. And I wash them every time it snows! My last pair were from wheelpros, they warrantied but it's the cr@p they put down here on the roads. So that is why I went with black BUT with chrome inserts. I like them but they are nowhere near as attractive as chrome wheels. And yes all these ALL black wheels look like New York City Taxi cab steel black wheels. Look so unattractive to me.

  18. Did some towing for the first time with the new truck. I like the camera for hooking up. No more guessing as to when I'm under the tongue.

  19. Your good bud... I also have been tossing around some different ideas also but cant really find something that I want to pull the trigger on. I'm somewhat familiar with front end swaps as I did one on my 2003 Tahoe. I installed the Silverado front clip on my tahoe to be different.

  21. Trailer mirrors were not available on 2019 1500's. 1500's got them back in 2020 SLT lost the option to add DQS mirrors part way thru the 2020 MY (maybe in Feb?) I have not idea why, but if I had to guess it might be some sort of tooling capacity issue. Sales demand doesn't always match capacity that was tooled.

  22. Your tongue weight should be 10-12% of your trailer weight to tow safely. Where are you getting 835 and 8800 from, is that from the sticker on the trailer, or did you actually weigh it? With your payload being 15xx lbs I'm guessing you have a 4wd crew cab standard bed. This is a crew cab short bed with the max trailering package, payload would be lower if the truck was a standard bed. To get 2200lb payload it would have to be a double cab 2wd I believe

  25. You would probably have to find a dealer that would be willing to work through the problem with you. They will probably charge a pretty penny for it but they might be able to say that they changed the suspension components and that upgraded the capabilities. Whether they change the current sticker or add another sticker which ive seen done in the past. Im guessing finding a dealer that would even want to try to work with this problem would be hard to do. IMO: Get some bags and a nice weight distribution hitch. No one is going to be in a rush to weight your truck and its individual axles for any legal reasons.

  26. Was it an OEM replacement radiator and fan clutch? I’m telling you, all aftermarket stuff is questionable. I have been dogged numerous times in recent months from power steering lines on my truck to anti-rattle clips on the brakes of my mom’s Highlander. Never assume a replacement part is good, especially if it’s aftermarket. My number one suspect would be that fan clutch. Make sure all the shrouds there. I had to look at another truck once to make sure mine were put in right. Make sure also your replacement radiator was the correct one for your engine. I have faith in Modine and OEM. Don’t know about others.

  27. Wow...quite a few of the people on this post don't come to a stop before shifting, and that's kinda sad...and then GM explains exactly what is going on, yet its met with resistance...

  28. An example of good engineering with poor usability. The two views go hand in hand for trailing yet require the user to take their eyes off the task with a screen change distraction. Imagine both views in a split screen view with touch to use either view as full screen and back arrow to split screen for trailer hook up.

  29. Weird coincidence that republican convention is supposed to be held in Florida in a month. And they’re having a “spike” and yet got caught lying about thousands of cases. People have reported walking out and not have taken the test and still getting positive results. 30. its a bit much to ridicule others bcuz they dont buy or think the same exact way.....he did say most will " defend their decision to the death" and he is following that exact protocol.....i need a truck to be a truck and need std bed but understand not everyone has same needs......tell a sheetrock/sheathing guy 8ft beds are pointless, lol.....to haul 8ft sheets and close the tailgate is huge

  40. I’m very sorry your truck got cancelled, I can see you’re taking it hard. It may be a good time for you and whoever will fit in your tiny back seat to take a trip...get some time away and clear your head. To prove you bought the right truck, you can even bring along the items that will only fit in a 6.5’ box, like your mattress and surfboard. Since I’ve never seen either of those items strapped to the roof of a Subaru with a “coexist” bumper sticker, I know they cannot be moved with anything less than a double cab driven by a real truck guy like yourself.

  41. Well, there’s one of the boiling frogs now. Today masks are a “new normal” when 3 months ago they weren’t necessary. The science behind masks hasn’t changed since then, but the “guidance” has. Wonder what will be the “new normal” 3 months from now? Because if you told me a few months ago that everyone over 3 years old needs to wear a mask, even outdoors, in the city of Milwaukee...I probably wouldn’t have believed it. But here we are. And there’s no end game and no limit to any of this. We continue to move the goal posts. They throw us a bone saying we can open up, but now we need masks and limited capacities. Most are still happy to comply and get a sliver of their normal life back, rather than question the need for any of this. With that attitude, this will go on for years, and what’s worse, the same process will be repeated for every other new virus that comes along because the standard is set. No infections and no deaths are acceptable. Hope everyone is ready to sign half their life away to homeschooling, masks and lockdowns.

  42. So I debadged the truck about a week ago, other than the bowtie in the grille and that I changed to black, I felt the back was too plain so I added the black bowtie to the tailgate, nothing ground breaking everyone has one but hey I did it today lol. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  46. Finally got around to taking a picture of my new truck (still needs a good hand wash). It is almost where I want it to be. 2020 elevation with a 2" drop on 24" wheels. **The odd colour around the front wheel is just from the tire mounting solution.

  48. Last March 2019, I bought my new to me 2015 Sierra Denali with 6.2. 60K miles. It was idling so bad the dealer replaced the engine mounts which didn't solve the problem. I realized the P.O. made many trips to Mexico...and knowing how bad Pemex gas is, I threw in some Techron and started using 91 octane top tier fuel. I also have been running Seafoam as well. Now, after 10K miles and 2 trips towing 6Klb trailer...the premium gas and fuel cleaners have done the job. She starts without that huge shake, runs at idle smoothly with a little stumble now and then... and purrs at speeds. MPG's have gone up as well. Not using any cleaner now...just premium gas. Bottom line? Clean the fuel system. The 6.2 can be silky smooth then...IMHO.

  49. I have had this exact set up for about a year. I love it. I drive 60 miles to work and back home every day. The Nittos are wearing evenly and haven't gotten any louder since I put them on. Good choice and your truck looks awesome. Makes me wish I'd bought white.

  50. I'm running 295/70R17 Ridge grapplers which works out to about an inch smaller height but same width, my guess is you are rubbing at the minimum the inner fender, easy fix there. Poke a hole in the fender liner and pull it back with some zip ties. Also trim the corner of the black plastic cap with a utility knife, you should see where you are rubbing. The driver side has the e-brake cable that you might be rubbing on as well.
