I use to live in Salt Lake City and would drive to Grants Pass, OR to visit extended family. My route had me get off I-80 and take over 200 miles of back roads, that even today doesn't have towns, gas stations, or even cell phone reception. Get off I-80 in Winnemucca, NV and head to Lakeview, OR. Back in the 80s there was a gas station in Denio, NV, and it was about midway between the 2 towns. That station is closed. And, because of Oregon's laws stating you can't pump your own gas, if you got to Lakeview, OR you were stuck until the gas station opened in the morning. I use to have a car that was limited to the distance, and I spent at least 1 winter night freezing my butt off in the car waiting for the gas station to open. I'm glad these trucks are capable of better mpg. Still, I make sure to top off the gas in Winnemucca just in case something happens. I've hit many big storms on this route, and helped many people who've become stranded. Oh, and the entire 200 miles is open range with no fencing. Get 3500 for additional payload wiggle room. The 2500 has more payload than all competitors but why not have more? The gas combo is perfect for what you outline as your needs. Don't worry about the transmission, it is probably as bulletproof as any in the industry.

2021 SLT Z31

Even going north from Winnemucca it's a very long way to the next fuel stop. It's Jackpot. Last time I was there they were getting over $6 a gallon. But the next fuel is I 84 in Idaho. I took the new truck to Salt Lake last October towing my 30' trailer. I ran out on 84 just before Twin Falls. I knew that might happen so I had 5 gallons of premium in the bed. Also 5 gallons of ethanol free regular for the generator. I could use that if needed. But it wasn't. When I got to Twin Falls I filled the 5 gallons in the can incase I did it again. I have decided that truck sucks for towing. Small fuel tank is one reason. Bad fuel mileage is another. And it's just not nearly as stable as the old Duramax either. It's nicer and all but me and the little lady agree the old truck is better for long trips towing. It has a 45 gallon transfer flow tank in place of the stock one and another 12 in the bed with a pump to move it to the main tank while driving. It will make it from Seattle to Twin Falls on that easy. It took 3 tanks and the 5 in the new truck. Then it didn't make it to SLC from there. The old one makes it there with over half a tank left and not needing the tank in the bed. And it handles the 80 MPH speed limits in ID and UT better. Much more stable and less loss of fuel mileage due to the higher speed. The 6.2 has plenty of power though. I was surprised how well it pulled up Cabbage out of Pendleton OR. My truck is a 2018 so it shouldn’t need the dash ground fix. I’m not having power steering issue but occasional service stabilitrack message in the DIC immediately after startup then it quickly goes away. The passenger frame ground had a decent layer of wax between the cable and frame. I cleaned it up with a paper towel. Issue hasn’t returned yet...

WAMS can do the programming that you need. https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com If you have the i05 radio, you’ll have the larger screen with the onstar GPS. I06 radio has the factory navigation. If you navigate the site, you can get a list of options that work for you. It all depends on your year truck also. Chris at WAMS would be the ONLY person I would trust with the programming. I had a newer I06 HMI (with nav) programmed for my truck and I got the CarPlay/AAuto and it’s awesome. I may be one of the few without unlimited data (LOL!) so I use the factory Nav more often. I had my HMI unlocked, so I also got the reverse camera harness from harnessdr.com (pgamboa on here) and I can check behind me while I’m driving. I'm in CA, so I have not dealt with snow and ice on the cover. However, the Retrax is finished/painted aluminum and should be fine once you clear the large chunks off. I think you would have similar issues with a fold up cover as well. The Retrax I had on my '07 had a vynil covering over the slats, so that might not have done well with snow and ice. Drainage is fine, as you run a couple of drain tubes from the vault down through the holes in your bed. I didn't even use those this time due to how the bed drainage is set up.

I currently have that size winter tire installed on some OE replica wheels on my Denali. I know you already ordered, so it doesn't help much, but I ordered factory TPMS sensors for $25/per and a $12 learning tool off Amazon.

I took a $200 deductible. I bought mine 2.5 years in hence i could not include it with my cars financing. My financing rate when i bought the vehicle in 2018 was 1.9%. What year did you buy your vehicle? What trim do you have? Your right though if things go well it may be money thrown away. But I think equal chances something could go wrong. So far 1 year in i had to replace a rear air leveling air bag in which the seal broke causing the compressor to run excessively which was done under manufacturers warranty. But everything else has been perfect. There is not much choice for the amount you spend on this vehicle too much could go wrong if it does ive heard the infotainment system is 3000$ + to replace alone. I had basic digital display radio in my last car go womky after 2 years and replaced under warranty they told me that was a 2000$ part which was overpriced if you ask me. My upgrades alone justify it as i took a luxury pack ,max tow and navigation radio. The problem with power seats is if they go you can't even manually adjust.

13.6V? A charged battery is 12.6V, it can be slightly over that for awhile after it's been on a charger. If there is 13.5V across the battery terminals of a 12V car battery, there's an external charger applying power to it.

I have the Diamondback. I really like it and would buy another. I also have a Slide-Master aluminum bed slide that makes access to the bed easy. I did have a Paragon cover in the past. It was a multi-fold cover made of aluminum that was quick to remove, locked and could accommodate a gooseneck. The drawbacks were that you could not put anything heavy on it and you needed to be careful what you put in the front of the bed if you didn’t have a bed slide drawer as anything tall in the front of the bed blocks the Paragon from opening. There is an adaptive learning reset and fast learn for the 6L80e, you just need the correct scan tool to make it happen. Any good transmission shop could do that. No idea what they would charge.

I am going tomorrow to look at a 2005 Gm 2500 HD 2wd auto truck that looks pretty clean inside and out and shows 605,000 miles on it. A dealer has it and is asking $1995. I have to drive it because my curiosity has gotten the best of me.

I went into the dealer looking for any color but silver, black and white. Saw that satin steel and said to myself that is nice, ended up taking it home. Like others have said and I agree, the satin steel has a lot of depth and shows the body lines really well with changing light.

I'll see if I can snap something. But in reference to to the XB's, the beam pattern and amount of light on those was just not what I was expecting out of a fog light. I think the SS3 is the better choice regardless of color, with the amber probably being a little more useful. I like that they basically pickup where my HID's let off, so seeing deer approaching from a field etc has been greatly approved. On a side note, haven't done enough testing to see if the beam pattern is obnoxious to other drivers yet... no one flashed me when I left them on but i'm sure they're blinding so I don't usually run them unless on dark roads.

aaah ok. looks like you dont know. Now it makes sense. Original shocks lick balls. Bounce around like a car with 300k miles on it. Even worse towing a 33' travel trailer. Glad it made a big difference vs stock junk ?

Just my .2 I have longtubes and my truck is nuts at low rpm. It will make asphalt behave like ice if you want it to (minimal throttle), but the tune does contribute to that. Definitely substantial gains low-mid, top-end didnt get the kick that I thought it would.

I am curious as well. It used to be fuse #3 abs pump fuse on my 2014 and my 2016 2500. I just ordered a new 2021 At4 and will be looking to disable it on that truck too.

I have spent soooooo much time researching this exact issue over the last month. Go look at @2019sierra on Instagram. You'll see leveled trucks running all kinds of tires. It'll give you some ideas. All of this assumes you're running OEM wheels with a 28mm offset, like your Elevation wheels. The biggest thing you have keep in mind though is the P metric tire sizes mean absolutely nothing to tire companies. So, you have to look at the specific physical measurement of each tire. For example, 295/60R20 equates to 33.9" x 11.66," BUT a Nitto Trail Grappler 295/60R20 is 34.45" x 12.13" while a Nitto Ridge Grappler in 295/60R20 is 33.94" v 11.77." That specific tire definitely fits without trimming, based on my research. The Trail Grappler requires light trimming to plastic behind the front valence and requires cutting about half of the front mud flap off and removing the steel mud flap bracket. Here is the holy grail guide for this procedure: https://wheelsasap.com/gmc-at4-oversized-tire-trimming-guide/ Based on my research and actually reaching out to some guys online that are running 35x12.50, 35x11.50, and the 34.45" x 12.13" Trail Grappler, all on non-AT4 Sierras with a 2 inch front level, you can fit that 295/60R20 without trimming as long as it's 33.94" v 11.77" or smaller. With that said, I believe narrower tires such 285 or 11.5 are much less likely to rub. With the 295 and wider, some folks have said you'll need a 1/4 inch spacer for the front wheels to clear the upper control arm. I've ordered a set just in case. I'm trying to decide between the 285/65R20 and 35x11.5 Ridge Grapplers for my 2 inch leveled 2019 SLT X31. Finally, as if each different tire model of a same P metric size (295/60R20, for example) wasn't a different size in real life, the physical sizes listed by the manufacturer or tire store websites is for the unloaded tire. This means that once the tire is mounted on your truck and is supporting your truck's weight, the tire's dimensions will be different, usually smaller in height and wider in width from sidewall to sidewall. For example, my factory Bridgestone Revo 3's are 275/60R20, they should be 33" x 10.8". On my truck and filled with 38lbs of air, they measure 32" x 12.75." So, they're nearly 2 inches wider than their spec. Hope this helps.

He probably thought of that, and FWIW, it's not in the diesel supplement, and there is no dipstick. This is what the 2020 diesel supplement says says. (basically the same as the regular owners manual.): When to Check and Change Automatic Transmission Fluid It is usually not necessary to check the transmission fluid level. The only reason for fluid loss is a transmission leak or overheated transmission. This vehicle is not equipped with a transmission fluid level dipstick. There is a special procedure for checking and changing the transmission fluid in these vehicles. Because this procedure is difficult, this should be done at your dealer. Contact your dealer for additional information or refer to the service manual for the procedure. Change the fluid and filter at the scheduled maintenance intervals listed in Maintenance Schedule pg 81. Be sure to use the transmission fluid listed in Recommended Fluids and Lubricants pg 85. Apparently we need the info from the service manual. Probably that's what the OP was hoping someone could provide. Sorry, I don't have the information (or a service manual to look it up)
