Camper weight: Would it make any difference??

With those weights of the campers, they should both have electric brakes, however the heavier trailer should have heavier axle capacity, you may notice a difference but in my experience it will be minimal . If you are able to tow each trailer as a test, see how it feels to tow, that may help with your decision.

I put a 3600 lb slide in camper in the back of my 1ton, and it pulls like a dream driving the love boat!

So I read my manual and it states a maximum loaded trailer of 8,000 lbs (this is if I have the 3.73 gears, might be 4.10s which gets me an extra 1,000 lbs.) with two full size passengers. Now I know that means no other cargo in the truck. So what I figure is 3 kids, firewood, bikes in the truck (~500-600 lbs.), clothes, cookware and all the camping gear in the camper (~1500 lbs) leaves me with about 5900 lbs to play with in an empty camper. Sound about right??
