i have a 2009 5.3l silverado and was looking at replacing the cam with an after market comp cam, but am unsure of the size i wish to do so with and was wondering if i could get some help. I want to replace it with having to do as little motor work as possible for example changing the push rods, valve springs etc. And also i was looking at agetting a performance tune before and after to see the difference, thoughts please?

If you change cams you will most likely need new springs and push rods.

I'm not sure. I looked into it a couple years ago before I decided to just do a 6.0 swap. I can't remember

i'm on a little budget, it's more saving the money and doing it as my old man will let me. Right now the truck is a daily driver and i'm considering a tune for performance and mpg on highway

thank you for the help

Mine is a DD, I can pull over 18 MPG on the highway with the 6.0 and 3.42's

forgot the exact specs, but there are a couple smaller cams that you wont have to replace pushrods and springs. However, for most you will need chromoly pushrods and the yellow LS6 springs

i was looking at texas speed and noticed they sold complete kits that run around 750 bucks, and was looking at a 220R or a 224R

If i was to purchase the full kit, it would work together without any problems to the rest of the motor, right?

The 220 is a nice cam. I don't known what year you have and how the AFM operates if you have it
