The hardest part are two of the 4 bolts underneath, but once you do it you can take it all out in 30 min or less.

Yup and they aren't even hard to take out once you realize where they are. Just use a socket extension. I've done it so many times now I can do it under 5 minutes.

I'm trying to figure out where to plug everything up before i even drill the end cap to make my hole for the wires running to the bulbs. I haven't found a place to hang the relay yet. Getting irritated because i'm rushed, i have to go back to starkville tomorrow. Where do i plug the oem input from the harness? I have no idea where that goes. I guess i've got to find a place to hang it first.

 

I'm thinking of taking it to someone but idk anyone to take it to. Idk anyone that would know how to do this and drill out the holes and such.

I see. I might do that as well just depends on how hard that piece between the grille and the bumper is to remove.

 

What did everyone use for sealant? Silicon? Butyl tape? Just the rubber grommet?

It's not hard at all. I've done it several times, original HID install, removal, LED bar behind grille, changing to VLED V3 Tritons in the turn signals, etc etc, I could probably have the headlights off this truck in about 10 minutes if I wanted to. It's not a hard process.

 

Take a picture of your harness, I can PM or text you pictures of how I have my wiring. Took me a few hours to come up with but only around 30 minutes to actually do.

 

Also if you are willing to extend how much wire you have between your relays and the battery, then your mounting location possibilities will greatly increase.

I never got it hung, couldn't find a place to hang it. My cousin's DDM kit came with self tapping screws he said. Was the Morimoto kit supposed to come with any mounting hardware?

Ive had a total of 5 DDM kits delivered to me (2 for friends, 2 for current truck when I was gonna retro projectors in the fogs, and another for my old truck) and none of them have come with self tapping screws to the best of my memory. I just used my own self tapping screw to mount my relays to the sidewall behind the driver side headlight

Ive had a total of 5 DDM kits delivered to me (2 for friends, 2 for current truck when I was gonna retro projectors in the fogs, and another for my old truck) and none of them have come with self tapping screws to the best of my memory. I gotcha i'll have to get some and go from there or see if this guy can install them in the morning. If not i'll go get screws, take out the headlights and do it neatly. Might as well install the fogs from there as well.

 

Could you send me pictures of your setup anyway? From when you ran your HIDs?

Anyone here got recommendations for the best direct replacement bright white fog light bulbs for a 14-15 GMC K1500?

 

I do NOT WANT bulbs that require the use of ballast or other wiring modifications, basically just want the best "plug & play" replacement option that will outperform the OEM lamps.

 

This may include LEDs (I don't know) but I don't want bulb types that will result in "flickering" , generate heat problems or error codes.

 

Sorry, but I don't have the time or inclination to read the 106 pages of posts here where I am sure there are a number which address upgrading the fog lamp bulb.

 

Appreciate your recommendations.

Mike, I don't know what I want. Led or other, I simply want to upgrade to a higher performance fog lamp bulb but without the hassle of using ballasts, relays, or having to alter my OEM wiring/lamp sockets, i.e. "Plug and Play."

 

I had the TSB/Upgrade done this week to the German manf'd Voslla bulbs and BCM flash wherein the new bulbs are brighter and whiter. Now the contrast between the white of the headlamps and the fog light bulbs is even greater than before so I am seeking advice from others here in the forum who have changed their fog light bulbs to a brighter, higher performance bulb without having to modify the wiring or use ballast/relays.

 

I just want a simple solution if such exist.

I did this video quite a while ago. I bake headlights now but am not opposed to cutting as I have been doing it for over a decade now. Lol. Anyhow, this video shows how to remove the lights. Hope it helps.

If you are looking to get something that improves sight, then a true PNP bulb won't do you much good. Some modification or ballast will be needed. If you really want improvement, my advice is to order some VLED LMZ bulbs and spend a little bit of time, maybe 20-30 minutes when you get them to remove the fog housings, remove the bulbs, get the LED chips at the same offset inside the housing as the stock halogens and then clip them in and plug up your ballast and call it a day. Those suckers are bright. You can bet money that if they were out before I changed to LED pods in my fogs then I'd have them in mine and I only like to use the brightest lights I can since I have my tinted windshield and need as much light as I can get.

 

Morris Lee has them in his and they are crazy bright and don't blind oncoming traffic.

 

That'll definitely be the most effective bulb change IMO.
