Anybody know of any good aftermarket upper control arms for a leveled Silverado? I'm still trying to retain my Factory 18in wheels.

I need some help and it seems like this thread is very responsive with some pretty bright folks looking at it.

I am having radio issues.  Pretty sure I need a new touchscreen and maybe clock spring.  This started a few weeks ago and so far I have not been able to resolve it without replacing parts.

Truck has about 43k miles on it and just passed the 3 year in service mark on 7-31-20.  None of the local dealers are willing to work with me on a fix under warranty.

I am not willing to replace my factory radio with an aftermarket unit.  I want to maintain all of the factory options or I would have already ripped this thing out and put in something different.

Any input here would be appreciated.  I really don't want to spend a ton of money on different parts that don't resolve the issue.

Symptoms:

1) Random tones like someone is pressing buttons.

Tones can be heard almost anytime the truck is running.  This includes no keys in ignition after remote start.

2) DIC randomly switches to the Radio options.  Sometimes the DIC is already on the radio options when I first crank the truck even though I left it on the digital speedo when I shut it off.

I like the digital speedo so this is what I always leave the DIC set to.

3) On the radio screen it randomly switches to the browse menu.

4) If the radio is on the home page it will just start rearranging menu items.

5) Touchscreen will occasionally not respond.

Troubleshooting performed with no positive effect:

1) disconnect battery for 1 hour

2) calibrate touchscreen thru settings menu

3) remove touchscreen from truck for about 45 minutes.  (mostly did this to get the part number)

Videos of symptoms:

Video 1 shows the menu items getting moved around on their own.

Video 2 shows the browse menu randomly popping up

Video 3 shows the DIC randomly changing without my input.

@Eddie 70 Thanks.  I should have reseated everything at the radio module the other day but I didn't pull that section of dash apart.  Will be giving this a shot in the morning.  Fingers crossed.

@doubeleive Thanks but I want to keep the factory system.  2 small kids means that spending close to $1000 isn't in the budget for my truck's radio.

I bought all the required adapters and it was only $160.00 a Alpine 7" with android auto/carplay is only $300

@doubeleive what Alpine unit did you go with? Does your rear backup camera still work?

I haven't installed this yet on the silverado, I have the same setup on my Denali and everything works that's what it is made for, the alpine was just a suggestion but I did buy the ILX-w650 for the wife's suburban $300 supports front and rear camera's, has wired android auto/carplay, the kenwood's support multiple camera's for a 360 view it just takes a additional module and camera's of course. I have just been waiting for kenwood to release there 10.1" headunits, I have all the parts to swap the entire system otherwise, a 6ch amp, a sub amp, 2 subs, components for the front doors, 2-way's for the rear, 2.5" speakers for the dash, wiring kit and the harness's and adapters, I bought the harness so I can just unplug the stock amp and plug in my aftermarket amps, then if I need too I can pull it out and put it back to stock without cutting or splicing any wires.

    • There are probably a few threads talking about fuel mileage but this one seemed to fit the stats I have seen based on my typical local driven route but with different outcomes based on different seasons/temperatures. I have a few hundred pounds of items that consistently ride on the truck at all times such as a bak flip cover, rubber bed mat, tools and extra fuel so I would be something over 8100 lb without me in the truck. All these examples are based on a 100 mile round trip to a town plus running around town so maybe 110 to 120 miles in total for a trip. Using regular fuel and I assume it always has some ethanol in it but don't know the percentage they blend in. Also speed wise I am going at 62 mph and non aggressive driving although less speed yet if its crappy winter condition roads. I am going by an initial reset of the computer generated fuel use numbers averaged over a couple of thousand miles or so for each weather/season so they may be more optimistic then actual hand calculated numbers. Basically this is painting a picture of doing the same drive but seasonal conditions and temperature being the major variable to the end result. Oh and although I am in Alberta Canada, I am converting it to miles per US gallon so there is no confusion.    So winter time it gets cold here, no real surprise there and the roads can be clear at times but also often have packed rough snow or are are driving through loose snow ( they do a poor job of plowing the highways ) and yes this includes the extra idle engine time due to trying not to freeze ones butt off. 12.7 mpg is what I was getting during the winter months on average.    Then during the spring when it was around the freezing point and the highways are clear of snow, I was getting around 14.25 mpg.   Summer time, I have been getting around 15.15 on average but certainly some of the trips showed quite a bit better fuel mileage, so much depended on how much or little I had driven around town and number of engine restarts after sitting for a while at each location. But stating a best fuel mileage trip to town pretending that is what the truck gets on average is fooling ones self for sure !.      As I said in a different post, I had driven a 645 mile trip over a couple of days stint to a different destination then these other daily to town examples above, and was done during the summer with nice weather and not bucking a head wind, also keeping at 62 mph and its a rolling landscape type highway drive ( this isn't southern Alberta or Saskatchewan flat lands ) Hand calculated fuel mileage in this case though and it came out to 17.65
