iCryWheniGoPoop Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 It was! Not much, but it was open a bit. I kept tightening the spring and letting go. Seems OK, but I think it should feel more free. I'll keep an eye on it. I could try some high heat lubricant. Not sure what course to take though, if it doesn't want to completely close. it should be covered under warranty...
04GMshorty Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 @mzodrag You are a dick. I am trying to help here. You buy a truck and the damn thing drives around like a beaten **** in the so called V4 mode. Keep it like it is and go around a corner and punch and you get a bang when it comes out of fag V4. Get a grip. You bought the truck to drive it like a truck not a Prius. If this doesn't get banned I will be ****ing surprised. Either way. Adios What are you Mr. semantics??? i will agree with you about taking a corner and accelerating and it banging because its trying to do to many things at once..one thing i hate about the afm... along with you needing a down grade and a tail wind to keep it in v4
leviblue Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 If i'm not paying attention, I would never know it switched. If I anticipating it going to V8 to V4, I will notice a slight engagement. Same with mine as haider320. And I'm not worried about it. I knew it existed when I bought the truck and did the rest drive. I'm still very pleased with the truck over all.
anthony2558 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 If anyone is interested range is still giving out 20$ off. The promo code of 2014BETATESTER is still working as of right now. Tapatalk via Moto X 1
tbarn Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Just ordered a Range V8. "2014BETATESTER" discount still works. Thanks anthony2258. 1
VMaxtastic Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Simple solution to AFM clunking when driving around the city.... Drive in 5th. I never had it in 6th, unless I'm on the highway. It's an absolute dog when I try driving it in "D" in the city.
Crf450r420 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) I read a lot and gave up after page 12. If you don't like V4 or think it really doesn't help with gas milage. Then drive around the outer parts of town below 55 using cruise control for 25 miles in drive and then do the same thing in M5. Which one gets better milage? If you get to do any good runs without stopping you will get better milage with the 40% increase you see from V4. You foot moving keeps it out of V4 mode a lot. If you just don't like V4 mode use M5 and control your life instead of complaining. The trailing throttle shuts off the injectors anyways, so if it's not going to V4 mode when coasting, but reads 99 mpg. It doesn't matter because it's not using any fuel anyways. I didn't see one thing about tire pressure before I gave up on the reading them all. I just went from running 32 psi as recommended in the door to 35 psi and it goes in to V4 sooner, stays longer, and gets better milage when it is. I'll probably try 37 also, but have not calculated the extra tire wear over money saved for fuel yet. I do feel it switch from time to time at low speeds, but it just feels like a gear change, so what is there to complain about there? The transmission slamming a gear like a neutral drop from time to time. That is a complaint issue and there is a bulletin about i now I posted in the thread about transmission troubles. tbarn Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 3 weeks with RangeV8 so far. Working great, no strange messages or lights. Got my fingers crossed.
gdadlow Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Drove from Chicago to Detroit today with the AFM turned off with the V4 module. Got 24.2 mpg. Took picture of dash but don't know how to paste. Have Sierra crew cab 5.3 motor with 3.45 gears. set cruise at 68 mph. Not bad. The most I got when the AFM was activated was about 22. Runs great. Oh yea. Air conditioning was on.
FastMan Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I love my AFM Disabler too. AFM is annoying and this is the ideal solution. Keep trucking and keep living, my friends!

I could feel it on my'14 V8, but not at all on my '14 V6. I use cruise control religiously! Every time I hit 25 mph I hit the cruise and pretty much just accelerate with my thumb. I get way better mpg and mine stays in V4 mode more. I just got the truck because it looks sooo cool. If I could get a "range" or AFM device that would keep it in V4 mode, I would install it. I want the awesome looks of this truck, with the fuel economy of a Prius.

Range has a V4 Fuel Economy Device that does keep it in V4 longer (as much as 90% of the time)
gdadlow Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I'm wondering if anyone has actually turned of the AFM and compare MPG? Have mine off with module and get 24 mph\g on highway going 70 mph.

I don't know if it will help you as I order my truck with the SEY 22" wheels, When I picked up the truck the tires were inflated to 37 psig cold and only heat up to 39 psig after driving. Back here in Ohio I'm getting 20 mpg city with 93oct with my 6.2 engine and 3.42 gears. Edited August 4, 2014 by SY2455
BillsLT Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I can definitely tell when it switches modes, but it is smoother than the Hemi Ram version. amen
