Emblem Mods - Paint, Plasti Dip, Vinyl

I guess there is a way to probably figure out how to get all of these pics on the same post, but I can't figure it out. Anyways, this is the rear bumper with one heavy coat of black, and the same with glossifier. The blemish I published was from getting too close with the glossifier I presume...like I said I will need to perfect it. I probably was rushing it due to the fact I still had to take my tape off before it all dried. Does it not look a lot slicker?

How about a photo of the truck as a whole to see how your bumpers tie in with the rest of the truck. Looks good from what I can see so far.

Thanks to all that have posted their experience and tips here.
I just completed dipping my bowties, and it was easier than I anticipated, and I think it looks excellent.

I masked around the bow ties leaving about a quarter inch of the chrome.
Then I placed a trash bag cut in two over the area, and cut out a hole which I taped to the previously attached tape job.

I sprayed 5 coats of white Plastidip waiting 15-20 min in between, then finished with two coats of Glossifier.
Temp today was in the 80's so it dried quickly.
Removing the excess plastidip was as easy as everyone says.

I first removed the plastic bag, making sure to tear off the plastidip so it stayed on the inner tape.
Then I carefull removed the plastidip from the tape and emblem going slowly to make sure I pulled it out of the crevice between the chrome and bow tie very smoothly.
At one small area a bit got stuck in the crevice so I used the dull side of an exacto blade to lift enough up so I could pull it out with my fingers.

Obviously the tape on the front has shrunk, but I didn't even notice till looking at the photo.

How well does black plasti dip and glossifier match onyx black, or is there anything similar that does match onyx black good? Also, I plan on dipping the chrome trim on the door just below the window (my lower door trim is already black). Should i just spray the black rubber piece as well, or try and tape off the chrome part only?

It doesn't match as far as gloss goes. The glossifier is more of a satinizer honestly. However, the trim you are talking about dipping is a matte finish on my truck so it should be fine. The big issue with black is that it looks dull after a while. To keep it looking good you need buy some dip coat from dyc.com and use it regularly. If I were you I would take tape off the black trim, unless it is much easier to spray it together. Just remember, 2 light coats, 1-2 medium coats, 1 heavy coat. This will prevent texture and allows plenty of time to peel off the tape before it dries.

 

My bumpers, grill, headlight trim, emblems, and rims are all dipped but I use a dyc sprayer.

Thanks man, i really appreciate the input. I should be able to tape off the trim pretty good and will be doing that the next nice day to my eblems and window trim. As for my bumpers, ill probably wait until after winter and vinyl wrap the bumpers and grille surround. Your truck looks sick btw!

I painted my front grill emblem black after removing the red interior letters. Then rattle can primer, paint, clear. Bought a billet black emblem to replace the rear tailgate badge.

Plasti dipped my grille, Z71 emblems and my GMC emblem on the tailgate to match.

I dipped the emblems, honey comb on my grille, grille shroud and emblems on my 2014 before it got totaled. If you're ever wondering how well plasti dip holds up with 5 layers of the dip and 5 layers of the glossifier just take a look. And yes the white plasti dip with the glossifier matches the pearl quite well
