I heard not to floor your vechicle when there brand new. Ive had my truck for awhile but ive only got 959 miles on it. Btw does anyone know the sweet spots for the 6.2 when you floor it when does it pull the hardest? I heard anything over 45mph

I let mine rip across the dealer parking lot on the test drive, I also worked at a dealer, you can bet that thing has been opened up already

I did wait for 500.

Like, literally 500. At 500.0000 mi the skinny pedal was on the floor.

As for pulling, mine will break the rear tires loose on wet pavement @60 mph. Every time.

I did what the manual said and kept it under 55 mph for the first 500 miles. I also took it easy with starts and stops.

Conversely, I never did that with my 2007 silverado and that thing was fine other than the oil consumption issue related to the AFM.

So who knows. I would say give it 500 miles to break in before pushing the gas too hard. After that, don't worry about it.

Same here, I was on the test drive and had to test the "passing power" of the truck. Different generation though. Also remember yours has a learning transmission it's a learning its shift patterns from you so drive it like you would everyday and all will be well.

honestly the days of "breaking in" a new engine is kinda gone with how they are built now days. even then if you still want to "break in" your engine it has nothing to do with how many miles you drive, it gets broken in by heat cycles. every engine is different and the reason most people go by miles (manufacturers) is becuase if they were to tell people in 10 heat cycles your engine will be broken in, most people would say, huh?

i used to believe in not flooring your vehicle for the first 1k miles but now i think it doesnt really matter. im not saying dog the piss out of your car/truck as soon as you take it off the lot. however, using the passing gear or taking off a little harsh to keep up with traffic etc will not affect your motor.

some peoples theories are if you "break it in" hard the motor will "expect" that the rest of it's life and be fine. the other theory is the exact opposite. so i say just drive it like you would drive any other vehicle and dont worry about it.

5,347 miles and I still haven't. Close,but no cigar. :D

10 heat cycles sounds reasonable. Manufactures of new cars I've had all recommend between 500 and 1500 of mellow driving to break it in. If it was better for the engine to hammer on it right away, they'd tell you to do that.

I've been driving like I stole it... Been laying the pedal down every chance possible. Currently @400km.

Up to you, however.

It only seems logical that some easy driving is better for the engine. What I wonder about is the (long) time before the first oil change. The engine must be full of assembly lube, I would think.
