MaineChevy Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 So is it ok to use a wire instead of a diode? I bought some diodes and they seem to be way to small, used a piece of wire and everything works. Just wondering if the wire is okay for the long run Thanks 1

Just wondering if the wire is okay for the long run Thanks Diodes only push power one way whereas a wire will push power both ways. You can add a wire to a diode but you shouldn't eliminate the diode all together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Rob38jr Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Regarding the fogs on with the High beams, has anyone done this on the auto dimming headlights? Any reason this mod wouldn't work on those? Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
bndawgs Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 i keep forgetting to look at the light on the cargo button. ha 2

Is there an issue doing this?

Is there an issue doing this? its exactly that. no problem doing it unless you don't want it to function that way. 1

Is there an issue doing this? Yes, and it presents no issues. I've been running this way for 2 years. In fact, I've had multiple people stop me to ask how I got my cargo light to come on in reverse because the added light adds to visibility when backing up at night.
whaler Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 The only issue I have is that they don't stay on long enough. Great MOD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cargo light system is designed to turn off when you put the truck into gear, whether it be R or D. May even only operate in P. With the mode, the lights will only come on in R (with diode facing the right direction), or (if wire mode or diode in "backwards") as long as the truck is in P or N.
whaler Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I was turkey hunting last week and working on my tailgate. Kept clicking my remote to keep the light on. Timed out too soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bndawgs Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 So i finally remembered to look. yup, the light comes on. I also noticed it came on when i turned the truck off and removed the key. 1

That's in your truck's "Vehicle Settings," "Lighting," "Exit Lights." I found that out too, the other day, trying to get my puddle lights to work. 1
Ridersfan Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 I did mine last night and wanted my cargo lights on with my reverse lights AND my reverse lights on with my cargo lights. This was so simple... I just used a red scotchlock connector, clicked it in, and had this mod done in seconds. (already had a good idea which wires were where because I was also doing the diode for the foglights on with highbeams mod) 2
Harry Glands Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Just did this mod..... One of the easiest things you can do Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
