Need help with my 78 Chevy Step Side

i just recently purchased a 78 chevy step side 3 quarter ton,

it has a 350 turbo transmission in it right now with a 3 speed b&m shifter,

the truck used to have a manual transmission in it and I'm looking to switch it back. It has a 350 small block in it, almost brand new. Im looking for something suitable to get me around from work and back, but still be fun to drag when I don't have the ladders in the back.

 

need to know the parts i need, and a list of trannys i could choose from

i heard the super T10 was a good one?

That looks like a short bed,don't remember GM making any short bed 3/4t trucks.

It was a long box, it got chopped and threw a short box step side on the back. The truck is a custom project. One of a kind

Don't know if there's a way to make this happen or not ... but either an NV4500 or 5600 would be SWEEET. Last forever too in that setup.

Can you post pics of the chop? Where'd the do it? Does it still have 8 lug axles? (or did they do that back in 78? maybe just 6 lug?)
