The good people at Truck Trend just announced that the 2016 Sierra Denali is their choice as Truck of the Year. Truck Trend chose the Sierra Denali over the Tacoma TRD and other new offerings. Although the group liked the infotainment system, it was the drivetrain that put the Sierra over the top. Truck Trend said "Turning the key and hearing the small-block V-8 rumble to life was a near-religious experience that caused every driver to sit up straighter and pay more attention, lest we miss one measure of that engine’s baritone exhaust note. The engine made the Sierra Denali one of the fastest vehicles Truck Trend has ever tested, with a blazing 15-second quarter-mile time at the truck’s top speed of 98 mph. Even with all that power, the Sierra got a respectable 19 mpg on its best tank."

The folks at Truck trend spent a week testing their nominees before anointing the Sierra Denali. We'd call that a thorough test! Check out the rest of the story right here. Sharp-eyed readers may notice that we used a 2017 Sierra Denali as our top of story image. The second image is the '16.

I thought Motor Trend and Truck Trend were the same thing? MotorTrend had no problem getting 14.1 or 14.2 (I forget) with the same truck. And a sub 6 second 0-60.

I do not know of any generation, even the 1970s low compression, that did not have at least one model into the 13s.

Glad to see a gmc sierra in good opinions..
