truck bed box design for modifications

Recommended Posts

I notice several grooves on the side panels and wheel wells of my 2015 Sierra crew cab short box. Looks like two places, front and rear, where 1 1/2 inch boards can be placed vertically for dividing the bed. Also, the wheel wells have indentions on top where, I assume, a board can be place across the bed. I'm just wondering what these really are and what GM thinks is the full potential for their uses. Thanks for any help.

GM calls this Two-Tiered Loading. You can find info in the Owner's Manual (page 9-19).

Is this only if you have the plastic liner?

I doubt it. I have a bed liner but I'm pretty sure one of the trucks I looked at before I bought mine didn't have a bed liner and there are indentations in the sides and wheelwell sheetmetal for the boards to sit on.

I always leave a board in my truck bed. Since this picture I have added three screw in eyes and always carry bungee cords. With a cover if smaller stuff slides to the front it's a pain to reach.

Steve,

Is that a BedRug on your tailgate? Just FYI -- if you have the entire BedRug stuff does not slide AT ALL on it. I used to have a few divider boards but don't even use them anymore since I installed my BedRug!
