Honda Ridgeline to 2016 Silverado - First Impressions

The tailgate was a cool feature. But ultimately it is just a gimmick. I liked it but I dont miss it at all. The cavernous storage in the trunk was awesome though. I wish GM wasnt so lame as to let Dodge take the lead with the bedside toolboxes that they pioneered with the 2002 Avalanche. Dont get me started on the "all new bumper steps" that are also a carryover from the original Avalanche. I see that GM is now trying to rehash the avalanch with the "high desert" model silverado. I guess that is kinda cool. Glad it is at least based on the truck this time instead of the suburban. The last gen avalanche was hideous. Speaking of hideous - I saw a new 2017 ridgeline in the parking lot. It is actually worse in person.

I hear this! My wife has a '14 Honda Pilot, and I drive a '11 Prius for work. The fit and finish of the plastic buttons and knobs inside the Japanese cars is much better than in the Silverado. I complained about it when GM sent me a post purchase survey. Why is it that GM can build a strong truck with an excellent drive train but not pay attention to details like window buttons, sunglasses storage, and seat belt covers. (The plastic cover for the rear seat belt flew off about a week after I bought the truck)

Don't get me wrong, I wanted a Chevy over a Tundra or Ridgeline, but for $53,000.00 I should get a little more quality.

I hope you didn't pay that, trucks can be had for good discounts. Also if you had spent a little more the quality would have gone up, you just didn't spend enough man...

No way! I bought it in July when GM was offering the 20% bonus tags. Plus the dealer I bought it from gave me a good deal on my trade. I got an excellent deal, and I am VERY happy with the truck! The plastic bits inside are really of little consequence when taking the overall quality and capability of the truck into account. However, if GM wants to improve their trucks, this is an area where they can start.

I'm not sure what you mean by "you've got to spend more". I looked at a 2500 LTZ (mine is an LT) and the buttons were configured differently, but they were made the same. I also looked at a couple GMC's and they were essentially the same. Do you mean that I should have spent $110,000 on an Escalade if I want better interior trim?
