Everytime regardless of weather. Still kind of does it into reverse so it seems but nowhere as bad.

It's crazy we still have trans threads 3 years into new production. Yes I know this site only houses a small percentage of actual people. But still here is something to be said. For me it clunks from time to time and there is a low pitch whine in 3rd and 4rd that GM acknowledges but does not know what it is. Same issues my 6.2 six speed 2014 Sierra did minus the whine. But clunked more. Anyway I'm just going to try and enjoy this 16 as much as possible. Until it absolutely kills me

I just bought my truck on July 1st, and I'm having the work done because it's a recall under warranty. I'd rather have it done now, for free, than have to pay through the nose if/when it starts acting up in the future.

The official GM fix for the recall is to replace the whole transmission, supposedly a six-hour job. They aren't supposed to actually crack it open and try to fix anything.

I dropped my truck off at the dealership bright and early last Thursday morning, and today (Monday) they called and said that the transmission won't arrive until Wednesday. It kind of pisses me off that they've had it for four days so far, and haven't even started on it yet.

I wish they could've ordered the transmission, and then had me bring it in when they're actually ready to fix it.

In the meantime, I'm stuck driving a no-frills "loaner" Sierra, which just isn't the same. I'll be lucky to get my new truck back before the weekend, and I will not be happy if I have to go two weekends in a row without the truck.

Keep us posted and please get some paper work about the recall I haven't got anything about it on my truck. I never drive my truck had it since April 1st, only 400miles in 4 months. Recalls don't expire they still have to fix them even if out of warranty.

Dealerships typically require a RO to order the transmission, did they not provide you with a loaner car?

I visited the McKinney dealership many times, lets just say I caught the sales teaming lying to my face so I skipped on buying a vehicle from them. Sewell seemed to proud of their trucks but they are honest and they worked with me, they made everything right in the end. That goes a long way in my book even after the sale if anyone needs a point of contact please PM me.

Same I've called into my dealership in Austin, a local one back home in Frisco, and checked online for recalls.

Appears there are no options for my truck until someone updates my VIN.

Re warranty and/or recall on the 8 speed. Has anyone seen the TSB or have info on a recall...build dates, VINs affected? Towing cross country next week and while the 8 speed has been doing well both daily driver and towing, wondering if my truck is in the mix? Looked at my truck VIN on MY.GM and states no recall on my truck. Time lag or my truck isn't in the mix?

Mine goes in this Saturday for the radio acting up and to have them look at the 8 speed for, I think, the fourth time. Mine has always had the harsh 1-2 up-shift, but it only does it the first up-shift of the day, then not again until it sits for a long period of at least 5-6 hours. Because I drive it down there, they can never duplicate the problem, but this time I'm dropping it off Saturday afternoon, and coming back at 8AM Monday and going out with the trans tech to show him.

I believe this campaign may be because of a defective supplier part. It would included a certain number of transmissions made between a specific period (possibly a shift). They can identify each and every transmission with the bar code which has a great amount of information in it. That may be the case here. If it is not a campaign I believe, as they did with my transmission, they open it up if they can identify the problem and the fix.

I had shift 2nd to 3rd shift flares with my 6 speed, which is a not so common but a known condition. A new 3,5,R clutch drum fixed my problem

My '14's trans came out for a few day job. Flex plate bolts were leaking oil at around 36k. I agree with fl8 vnm, 3yrs into production and we're pulling transmissions out of brand new trucks. For one reason or another.

Nothing in the mail. Checked for recall with my Chevrolet app and popped up. GM program #2044120 date issued Jun 21,2016.

Program title: Cracked 2-3-4-6-8 Clutch Piston

Program description: Certain 2016 model year Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles, equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, may have a condition in which the 2-3-4-6-8 Clutch Piston is out of specification. Parts exhibited a crack condition as cast after machining. As a result the vehicle could exhibit 1-2 up shift slipping ot a flaring condition.

Safety Risk Description: The Vehicle could exhibit 1-2 up shift slipping or a flaring condition.

Repair Description: Replace the transmission.

This is all I have information wise. Dealer confirmed I would get a entirely brand new transmission. I'll keep you all posted.

We shouldn't confuse a recall with something else. This is just a customer satisfaction program and NOT a recall. This is just if the customer complains about a 1-2 shift slip. Not a mandatory safety recall. There is quite a big difference.

Correct, they call it a campaign in house.

Yes, the McKinney dealership provided me with a loaner while mine the work is being done, and today marks one week since I dropped off my truck.

I am not very happy driving around a no-frills loaner truck for a week, and while I understand that replacing a transmission is not a trivial task, it seems stupid to me that I had to leave it with them when the replacement transmission wasn't even supposed to arrive until last night. I haven't even made my first payment on the truck, for crying out loud, and it's already spent a week in the shop.

I think the McKinney dealership does have a few good people working there, but I'm not thrilled with the experience, which I attribute to faulty leadership. I think I will probably start using a different GMC dealership for service, even though it'll mean a longer drive for me. I don't want to go into too much details of my experience in this thread, but I did have some complaints that were essentially ignored by the dealership.

Have you heard anything good or bad about Ewing GMC in Plano? They look like they might be worth checking out for routine maintenance and recall type stuff.

Yikes, thats a long time for a tranny. My dealership had me drop off my truck the morning the new torque converter came in and I had my truck back the next day. Since the repair its been night and day difference.

I talked to the service manager this afternoon. He predicts it will be ready Monday afternoon. I am not very pleased with the amount of time that it's taking. I don't want them to rush the work and make mistakes, but the amount of time it is taking is ridiculous.
