2016 LED Tailgate Light Strip Help

I have a 2016 Silverado 1500. I purchased a LED light strip for the tailgate that plugs in using the 4 pin trailer harness and splice in the reverse light. I need HELP trying to get the running light functioning. If anyone knows how to get the running light function to work, please help me out!!!

I believe it's called a curt t connector...it plugs into the 7 pin behind hitch and adds a 4 pin for the tailgate light bar...no exposed wires and no splicing...that's what I used

T-connector is plug and play. except for maybe the reverse lights (if you have them). Buy the right size bullet connector. Put it on the reverse wire and plug it into the open spot on the harness it adds (#5). Then, tuck it all up underneath somewhere.

I have a 2016 GMC Sierra truck and I also installed a light bar. I bought a connector through Amazon, I'll leave the URL. Hope this helps.
