Cmillerjr Posted August 29, 2018 Author Posted August 29, 2018 Got the new hood on, all is good now and looks great. Anyone that hat has or is looking to purchase a 2019 black Silverado, check out the hood lip to the right of the drivers side head light. 1
Ziggo Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Anyone have a link for some suppliers for ceramic coating/xpel? I had never heard of this before, but it sounds like after investing $70k in a truck, I would definitely want to do this to prolong the life of the paint job... Thanks in advance, Z

Thanks in advance, Z You have a valid question, but it really does not fit under the "Troubleshooting" thread. Try posting in the mods thread instead Good Luck!
DBRE Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Water base clear, most updated body shops are spraying water base. Thank you again PEA. However I have had paint work done on my 16 and the match was excellent and it was pearl. In 1 year I did not see any I'll effects of the water based product. BUT THE stuff is hard to work with and requires special drying lamps.
Mark Contrael Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I don't wash my truck much but the other day I did and when I got up in the bead to wash the roof there where fricken chips everywhere! Most of the chips had a blue undersurface color. Other were down th the white layer. No where else on the vehicle is this present. I'm going to the dealership today to see if they will cover the repair. Truck has less than 25K on it. Fingers crossed! Zoom in on the pic to see it better.

If you are still within the 3/35 oem warranty your should be good. If you are outside of it generally having a dealer cover any paint work is an uphill battle, it is readily excluded from most extended warranties too. Not trying to be an ass here but judging by this picture your paint work looks to be in not so good of shape and i'm not talking about the missing paint areas. Do you hand wash and wax your truck often because i see a roof that has literally no protection on it imo, look like it has been chemical blasted by several auto car washes to me. Those places are destructive to today's paints imo with how soft, brittle and thin they are. I would say leaving your car a dirty mess is better then running it through one of those places..
