What i should have asked is, how many of you all have had there rear window replaced just for it to crack again?

They redesigned the frame and track for the slider window. The made the plastic thicker. The new design windows don’t seem to crack. Which is why people are realizing that the window frame is not the only source of water leaks.

I got an update on my truck Friday and they said they have narrowed it down to the spoiler bolts in the middle behind the 3rd break light.

I didnt know that, so maybe i will get it installed then, if it ever comes in.

Do you think the one i have now will get worse over time? Its not leaking at all spolier or rails.

Hopefully they get yours done soon man its so frustrating. I opted to do the work myself. The man said it wouldn't void my warranty and i have a little bit of experience.

I’m my opinion. If it doesn’t leak don’t change it and give it a reason to leak.

Yeah thats what ive been debating. I'll probably just keep my orignal window i don't want my interior messed up.

Good luck with your truck man, if the dealer cant patch you up, let me know and ill tell you what i did step by step.

Yeah, leave it alone. As someone who has had the TSB done and finally a full replacement, and most of my interior panels damaged in the process - it’s not worth it. If it’s not leaking now and you have your 3/36 warranty - just get it replaced closer to 3 years while it’s still under warranty and likely they’ll have a better fix down the road.

So we have finally found the source of the leak in my truck. I went to the service department yesterday to get an update and they took me back and showed me.

on the line of body seam sealer that was applied at the factory by the robots which sits directly under the spoiler there was a air bubble in it that popped. This was filling with water and then leaking through the seam to the truck. You can see it in the attached pic.

what they did was filled the void from the while with flexible dealer and then are also sealing it on the top also.

It’s been pouring all day. My flowable silicone repair is still holding. No leaks YET. However I did notice cracks in the plastic now. I was leaking at both corners before I did the silicone job.

That’s great that it’s holding. In my opinion it’s holding because the cracks are not the source of any of our leaks. Mine turned out to be a popped bubble in the body seam seal applied at the factory right under the spoiler. I think it is just a convenient coincidence for GM that the frames were cracking.

the TsB never stops the leak because it does not address the true source of the leaks.

My cracks leaked and the TSB sealant job fixed it. Been 10 months now. ?‍♂️

We understand what you are saying, but might be another story on a different forum.....

My 2500 is beginning to leak near each corner. I took it to the dealer and they tested it and have ordered a new spoiler/brake light/camera assembly. Said once it arrives and gets painted to match, I can bring truck back to them for install. They've been great so far, keeping me informed as it goes.

You fellas have room for one more in the window leak club?

Before purchasing my 19 Elevation, I did my homework and read all about the leaks and 8 speed transmission problems. Thought I picked out a gem, transmission has been baby smooth and no signs of any leakage until I hit 1500km's.

After 1 month of ownership and a couple heavy days of rain, I saw water running down the drivers side rear corner window.

Long story short, the truck was in the shop on May 26. I was told the window was on backorder, but there was 1 window available at a different dealership that they would try to get for me, otherwise it was unknown how long sourcing a window would take. Took the truck home and was told to hang tight for a phone call.

Took the truck home, had multiple conversations with GM customer service. I was then notified by the dealer that they were able to pry the window away from another dealer and was booked on June 9 for the install. The window was installed by a 3rd party glass company. Meanwhile, as I was waiting for the window, it rained 6 out of the 14 days that I had my truck out of the shop. Luckily, the headliner didn't see any water damage and I kept a towel along the backseat to soak up any of the leakage. As well, no odor or rust on the seat bolts.

As well, I was told they also had to source a windshield and keep one handy just in case they break the stock one as they might have to remove the headliner and as we all know, it can only be removed by taking the windshield out. However, since there was no damage to the headliner, they would assess to see if there was any damage once they open her up.

The truck was kept overnight on June 9th and I was called early in the morning June 10th to let me know that the truck was done. Before picking up the truck I asked them to do a leak test with a hose. It passed the test. I have to say, I am beyond surprised at the quality job they did. It looked exactly like it did when I dropped it off. No scratches anywhere, no sealant exposed anywhere. Leather seats unharmed.

On the way home, I took her through a high pressure touch less car wash. Not a drop...fingers crossed this is permanent.

2019 Elevation, build date June, 2019.

3 piece window with slider.

Original glass, FUYAO 43R0115130 E2
After glass, FUYAO 43R000072 E4

Headliner did not need to be removed. No damage to headliner, looks perfect.

If anyone is in central Alberta and is in need of a replacement, message me and I'll give you the dealership name and contacts.

So my truck is back at the dealer, as my state (South Carolina) requires I give GM one final repair attempt before I can claim the truck as a lemon. A GM engineer was on-site for the inspection, and low and behold they found a crack in my replacement window, same place it cracked on the original window... My new window should be installed early next week, and I was told it has been improved and reengineered... Sounds like dealership talk for it's the same damn flawed design...

Has anyone heard of there being a new design rear window out there? My first replacement was from August 2019.

For those that may not know my entire store. My original window was resealed per the TSB, then the window was replaced entirely, then the replacement window was resealed, and now I'm looking at another new rear window.

On the bright side, maybe the 2021's will be out by the time I finally get to formally claim my truck is a leaky lemon.

Wow, 143 pages of leaky windows ? .... I had the pass-through on my 2015 and have it again on my 2020. I rarely open it unless the grandson is in the back seat. So far with the new one I've driven 30 miles in an extreme down pour and hit it with a high pressure hose and covered the entire window frame and the seem where the spoiler meets the roof. No leaks whatsoever. My build date = 02/20. Hoping I got the updated part and wont ever have a problem. I do have two questions for the group:

1. Does opening and closing the window cause wear that eventually will cause the leakage?

2. Are there instances where there were no leaks when the truck was brand new, but start leaking months down the road?

I certainly will be keeping a keen eye on this for sure!
