econometrics Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Rained very hard, and very steady for about 2-3 hours last night. Went to check my window this AM, and she was a-leaking again. Not too bad at all, but the leak is back, like the Terminator. It was a nice 2 week break with no leaks. Then again, it barely rained those 2 weeks, Lol. I guess it’s new window time for me.
JohnCasey Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) It took five trips back for GM to finally say a new window would be required. Now it’s backordered and they can’t tell me when it will be available. Good luck. The second caulk job was sloppier than the first. Edited January 12, 2020 by JohnCasey I miscounted my trips back to the dealership.
ShamrockShooter Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 And wait till the glass guys have to cut that caulk job off the back of your truck with a razor knifeSent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk 2

What a disaster.
ShamrockShooter Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I was in the neighborhood so I did a drive-by at my dealer to see if my truck was outside. I could see a guy moving his belongings from a brand new high country to a double cable LT loaner. That can only mean one thing..... Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk 1 1
ShamrockShooter Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 What is the heck am I looking at in this picture?? What a disaster. The seven inch long tattoo they left on the side of the rear window then "touched it up"Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
gmcsierra71 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Browsing through this thread, if I understand the issues: 1) It appears that two different window manufacturers (VITRO and FUYAO) have been used and both have experienced leaks. 2) Both 2019 and 2020 models have experienced leaks Is there a true fix to the issue? Can this be addressed in a 2021 model?

It was listed for 2014-2018chevy and gmc
ShamrockShooter Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 The only thing I haven't seen is someone get their window replaced and then develop another leak. So if that is the case it could point to a factory install issue but it could also be a body flex issue which would not be very easy to address even in 2021. If it was a factory install issue you would think they would have fixed it by 2020 models and it would probably only be at one facility but that's not the case either. Porterhouse Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Just got mine back a few days ago. Took it straight to the carwash. No leak so far but I'm not holding my breath. I will have to go back when the new headliner arrives
bdsilverado Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 These new trucks have that much body flex? If it was the same part used as the last body style and it worked on those but doesnt on these that is weird.
DZen Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I originally posted in Feb 2019. I live in So Cal so we don’t get much rain. Purchased AT4 in November 2018. Leak in Feb 2019 in corners of rear window, my dealer had truck for about 5 days and replaced window. No issues until Xmas 2019, rear window leaking in middle after a heavy rain. Dealer took truck from 12/24 until 12/30. They replaced window again. We’ve had some small rain since, but I haven’t had any leaks yet. I really do like the feel of truck, but am debating on getting rid of it. Is this going to be a yearly thing every winter? How long will they keep replacing window at no cost? Both times they have given me a loaner Yukon so I can’t complain about that, but why does my $50K truck leak? It’s definitely an inconvenience to me and my family as this last leak was discovered the day before we were driving out of town for the holiday.

Well, there you have it folks, a previously replaced window that leaks again. The answer to your question is they will keep replacing it until it’s out of warranty, at which time it would be wise for you (and all of us) to dump these trucks as fast as we can... For anyone still thinking the 2020s will be any better at all...just saw this posted...original TSB has been updated to include the 2020 half tons and HDs. Admission the problem still exists I guess. It will be interesting to see how many HDs have the leak by this time next year. Presumably the chassis is much stiffer, so if it’s a “flexing thing“, we may not see very many of the 2500/3500 trucks with this problem.

Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk By no means am I trying to debate. I have been following this thread very closely, checking my window every time it rains (even lifting up the seats and checking the bolts for corrosion). If it’s body flex, wonder how many of the people that have experienced a leak use there truck for just a DD with mild driving conditions? In other words what situations would have caused their trucks to leak in the first place? Not sure if I am stating it correctly? I know I take my truck off the beaten path.... I love this truck but between the leaking windows and brake issues, it has me a little freaked, especially since it looks like GM doesn’t have a definitive fix for either
