I think for the money more people will just opt for coilovers at $200ish more.

These are coil-overs. What other set of coil-overs can you get for $800? Last time I check the cheapest Fox set 2.0's that I could find were $1000 and if you wanted to step up to King's you are talking 2000 beans minimum.

AND...with the GMTRUCKS code these are $600 shipped, I suspect they will go fast as people have been waiting on them for a long time.

So with these do you need to change the UCAs?

No, designed to work with stock UCA's. Aftermarket UCAs will give you a bit more droop travel tho.

I know these have been a long time coming for our trucks. But, I'm under the impression they have been out for other vehicles. Is this true, and if so, does anyone have any knowledge (first hand or from a friend) of how they perform? Especially on a similar vehicle (full size truck or SUV).

They are a big improvement over the 5100s and a huge improvement over stock, especially in the rough stuff. On road, they translate less movement into the cab as they are able to soak up bumps and potholes without working as hard as the 5100s. They have 40% more dampening force than the 5100, which means they can soak up road imperfections with ease.

If you have specific questions, let me know!

Summit has fox for under 800 shipped.

These are just $600 for the pair. They will perform better than any 2.0" diameter shock, including the $800 set of FOX 2.0 coilovers. To get more performance / more adjustability over the Bilstein 6112, you would probably be spending over $1000 on a set of FOX, King or ICON coilovers. Realize these are a 2.65" diameter, which is larger than most of the high end coilovers. A 2.0 shock just cant compete with the larger size.

For those looking for a direct shock replacement, a little bit of front end lift and a greatly improved ride over stock, this is most likely the best option under $1k

5100 vs 6112 (Tacoma set)

For someone who does ZERO offroading, would a coil over be smoother on the highway? At MAX height plus a spacer would the ride be smoother then a 5100? are Springs included on a coilover? It seems like it might be cheaper to purchase coilovers with springs preinstalled then pay to have someone remove the springs off factory struts and onto 5100s?

Yes springs are included with coilovers. That’s one of the reasons they’re so expensive

Swapping springs onto new struts is WAY cheaper than buying coil overs. I just did it yesterday. I bought RC 2.0 lifted struts for $249 and had my oem springs taken off my oem struts and put on the new ones for $65.

Yeah, I was thinking of waiting for these when I bought my 015 in Oct of 15...

Then my truck sat at the shop for 2 weeks waiting for some 5100s that were on “backorder” but somebody somewhere supposedly had 6 sets and I was getting one set. Well somebody somewhere apparently didn’t know how to do inventory cause 6 sets was exactly 0 sets.

3 days later was rolling on my new Pro Comps cause well at 100 bucks a week truck payments I wanted to actually drive it...

I absolutely love the Blisteins on my 3/4 ton which is why I was willing to “wait” for them on the 1/2 ton. Well that didn’t pan out and even if it had what if I had gotten a dud out the box or needed a replacement one for what ever reason? Then what?

I’d be more than willing to give 6112s a chance now as the Pro Comps are at best just adequate IMO but then again if I need a replacement how long would I have to wait for the next batch for it? Do I go for them and keep the Pro Comps just in case as backups? Nah I just do Kings and be done when I’m ready...

That’s a very valid point, one I didn’t even think about. It will be interesting to see how these are going to be stocked now that they are becoming available. I really don’t know squat about suspensions except what I’ve learned on this site. Well truck suspensions anyway. That’s probably pretty obvious when I tell people I have a 2.25 RC level lol.

I’ve seen a short of the rear “Extended” 5100’s after a lift but never a standard set of 5100’s. You do have a point though, specialty items tend to screw with your install plans. I had to wait for my CST Coil Overs to get specific tuning based on my driving habits and dread the thought of having to wait for a replacement. I actually have a brand new set in my garage of the 5100’s with my lift spacer already mounted to my stock coils along with a brand new set of extended 5100’s for my rear for this exact reason. One thing I sorta wished I did was buy the Adjustable CoilOvers, I’ve been contemplating going with adjustable front King 2.5’s for my 4.5” -5” lift. Always good to have backups, just in case. Waiting period on a set of Adjustable King 2.5’s custom valved/tuned is approximately 1 1/2 - 2 weeks, sometimes longer.

Did you install the struts after? I see coilovers maybe being a overkill for my application. Im only at like 70K miles on my truck but I feel its getting close to shock time... ride quality good on 2.0s?

Standards were in stock. I was wanting the adjustable fronts. At that time it was so hit and miss places would get a couple sets here and there then none for weeks/months. I seriously wonder if that’s why Eibach came out with theirs because they had saw the demand that Blistein wasn’t filling. The Pro Comp adjustables were at that time anyway available at just about every off road shop and online shop in the country.

Hopefully Blisteins business practices aren’t the same with the 6112s but seeing how it took 3ish years for these to actually materialize I wouldn’t say they are off to a great start? Otherwise I see more disappointed would have been customers...

This truck is paid off now and ain’t a daily so if I have a couple week wait time it wouldn’t kill me I just want to know I can get the part(s) if and when needed to service them...

Yes I installed them myself on Wednesday. Not sure about ride quality just yet. After getting everything installed I was only able to drive my truck about 10 miles and that was to drop it off at the shop doing my gear install. During that ride though I could tell the ride was a lot more Cush than before. I have an RC lift so I’m just trying to keep all components RC. Strut and shock combinations are endless so go with whatever you like.

IMO coilovers are for serious off road trucks or show trucks. Seems like over kill for a daily driver.
