If you look at the boost curve it's on the limiter from the hit. 

Not sure where you saw that at. It runs up to 22psi of boost. It’s not really pushing any design limits - GM wasn’t stupid enough to stress it like Ford does with the EB.

Gorehamj's post which I see I read incorrectly. I read that line at about 200 kPa or 29 psi. My bad. Thanks for making me look twice. :thumbs:

Haha no worries - what an interesting chart.

 

I will say that from my butt dyno and audible perspective that it is spot on. The turbo spools (and starts whistling loudly) right off idle. My neighbors used to be able to tell when I was coming up the road from the exhaust on my Colorado - now they can hear me whistling up the hill.

Have a question regarding the 2019 GMC sierra. In the center of the dash board, in front of the catchall is a square domed area (between the catchall and the windshield). It is about 1.5" square. What is it?

Anyone else with the 2.7 having 8-speed transmission Issues? I still have a harsh shift 1-2 and 2-1 after getting the new transmission fluid.

I have the occasional rough 1-2, the occasional 2-1, and it shudders like a wet dog pretty much all of the time under light acceleration. The 8 speed is Satan's own transmission and needs to be recalled, taken out back, and shot...

I know this is an older post, but I pull a trailer in the 5 to 6 thousand pound range and my 5.3 was straining when crossing mountain ranges.  And the trans temp was over 200° going uphill.  No way would I ever try to tow that much with the 2.7 unless it was short distances over flat terrain.  That's the whole reason I upgraded to the 6.2 and max trailering package.

Turbos get a huge benefit over NA vehicles crossing mountain ranges. If you were crossing the Rockies, you were probably down over 30% of your horsepower.

HP Loss = (elevation x 0.03 x horsepower @ sea level)/1000.  7000 x .03 x 420/1000 = 88.2/420 = 21% loss.  I'm still pumping out more horses than a 2.7.  I imagine it's the same for torque.  And I have that 3.42 rear end.

    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.  
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.  
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
    • I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
