Maize & Blue Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 First time towing with the new rig. 600 miles round trip to Niagara Falls, ON for Memorial Day weekend. The 6.2 had plenty of juice and I'm quite pleased overall. Coming from a 2500 Duramax I was concerned. The camper is about 7000 lbs and 33'. We used a Husky Centerline TS weight distribution hitch. We averaged 10.5 mpg on the way there with 93 octane gas. The highest octane I could find in Ontario was 91 so that's what we used on the way home and we averaged about 10.0 mpg. Those were the computer numbers but they were higher than I expected. I didn't hand calculate though I may next time just to make sure they're accurate. All things considered, we're very happy with the downsize. 1

BlancoSilverado Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Not much for Blanco to tow. Going from Bay Area,CA to Seattle, WA. Towing a 6x12 uhaul trailer. Empty going up. Full going back. I will be documenting the mpg for all. 1
BlancoSilverado Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 (edited) The Bay Area, CA to Seattle, WA. 830 miles one way. Came back, Blanco has 5500 miles now. Was getting anywhere from 11-15 mpg on average doing 65-72 mph on a "closed course" empty or full. The trailer is a brick. Edited June 3, 2019 by BlancoSilverado 1
Sex&Trucks Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Anyone out there have any issues with the trailer wire hookup on their truck? I got a 2019 high country with the max towing package. Hooked up to the trailer and had no power going to the hookup. Trucks been in the shop for almost 2 weeks and they can’t figure out what’s going on. The dealership has told me they have already replaced two different modules and it still never fixed it. I just keep getting told that because it’s a new model there not much information on them to troubleshoot easily witch I do get but hate owning a truck I haven’t been able to drive and the truck was 6 weeks old on Saturday. Not impressed one bit.

bcato Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) As mentioned above, yes, the 6x12 uhaul is a brick. Hauled it 1100 miles, medium load - this was the weekend before Memorial Day. Half of the drive was on I-40, the rest went up through panhandle of texas, new mexico, colorado and across the continental divide at 11,200 feet. The 6.2 pulled it wonderfully, love the 10 speed. I too came from a 2500hd/duramax, but this one did very well. However, the mileage dropped as low as 10mpg and as high as 14mpg in the higher elevations running slower, but I ran it on tow haul most of the ride and I was giving it h*ll down the freeway running mid grade fuel. Looked at one a few times but have been hesitant to pull the trigger with my 17 Sierra 5.3.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
SkiDooNick700 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Do these trucks squat quicker than the K2s? From some of the pics I feel like they do. Could also just be the way the weight is distributed at that given moment from the angle the rigs are parked at. Or maybe its the body lines/circular wheel wells making it look that way.

I think they do. I loaded a lot of bags of dirt in my at4 and it squated easier than previous trucks. I’m sure if a trailer with a proper weight dist. hitch was hooked up it would do much better.
Unclebud87 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I think it varies from the package. The at4 and trailboss have quite a bit lower payload and tow capacity.
