Buy 2019 or wait and get a 2020

Also... If your truck is OK, I hear they are doing an interior update for 21 I'd assume.

The hard-shifting 8-speed sucks in the 2019, I have one myself so I'd know. It is annoying enough for me to wish I didn't buy it. From a cold start, I shift it to D and it violently jerks forward.

 

And it has happened when I had the autostop on for at least 20 seconds then I hit the gas, it jerks forward. Very annoying.

I don't think GM will do anything with the rear end jiggling to the point it fishtails though. A few have reported this, but I don't think GM will fix that since it was worse in the 2018's and before.

Ah, just mentioned that and then saw that. I'm not having reliability issues here but the violently jerking forward is really getting to the point I regret the purchase.

I got the 2020 when it the lot just before the strike.  Wasn't even planning on buying.  Went for an oil change and walked out with a new truck.   

 

Get the the truck you want.

I'd wait and get a 2020, unless you can find a 2019 spec'd exactly the way you want at a screaming deal.

I was originally planning to wait until at least spring 2020 to replace my fast aging 2007 Silverado.

I’m always skeptical about first model year after a big change, but my 07 worked out fine.

The 19 Sierra Elevation I picked up was a manager’s demo.  Ended up saving close to $20k and I felt it was too good of a deal to pass up on!  Wasn’t quite the exact truck I was looking for but definitely close.  Wanted the bucket seats/console this one doesn’t have that and silver wasn’t my first colour choice.  Although the silver is quickly growing on me.  Looks good with the black Elevation rims.

Can’t imagine I would’ve found a deal this good on a 2020 model in the spring as I believe that is when prices are the highest and incentives are the lowest.

Felt like my 07 was a ticking time bomb and it was time to ditch it.  Plus I didn’t want to tow my TT with it again.

The new Sierra has a MT package and the ride definitely feels more solid! Can’t wait to tow with it!

Unless a mechanical change like different motor and trans , go with the most discounted one which are the 19s

I pass I can care less about adaptive cruise control. The Xm 360L if you think about it if you have a 19 is only a software update because nothing has changed on the radio system itself. I can see them giving the 19 models that later on down the line. I am happy with my 19 Sierra Crew Cab Slt Premium Plus.

I will say I noticed the 2020s lost the unlock button on the rear outside handles. My kids loved being the one to push the button to unlock the truck. The 2020s is only on the front door handles now

That sucks, that was one of the things I didn't like about the F-150 when I looked at it. I like being able to walk right up to the rear door and unlock it when I need to put something in the back seat.

That really would be a shame, if true. I use my rear buttons ALL the time, as it’s the last door I use when getting my work bag out of my truck. I’ve noticed Ford and Dodge do not have them on the rear handles, which was another small win for GM IMO.

My 2020 has the unlock on all four doors. 
That's weird. The 2020 trail boss I'm getting did not. What model/trim is yours?
