could also be caused by extreme temp of the thermostat. they are undersized plastic radiators barely able to handle the thermal stress of the 5.3 motor.

I suggest you guys install the Katec 175 stat ,and install the Max TOW radiator, i'm not sure the 6.2 is bigger than the stock 5.3 , but the Max Tow is the larger unit.

Have you tried this out. Looking for more info on the Katech stat. I think I'm about to do this

been using the katec for the past 3 years, no issues.  no colder than 175 F and trans stat removed. it'll make the truck last longer
