Will GM pay my monthly payment if my truck spends the month at the dealership???

Some owners have had GM or the Dealer provide compensation in the form of Extended Warranties, Monthly payments, Chevy Rewards increased. Contact the dealership, customer service and the GM Field Rep.

I had this happen today started truck while in wal mart with my chevy app. Got into truck started to drive and all of the reported warning lights came on. Of course my brakes where gone to the floor like a old manual system. I had the recall done early Dec. I have started he truck with the app several times since then. I had on star give me the codes drove slowly to the dealer told the service advisor everything that happened she asked a couple of questions and showed her the codes. They had this happen to another customer recently and everything was the same and the codes. She did state that GM is aware of this issue and is "working on it".

They said they had fixed the other vehicle by test driving and computer programing and some other stuff wasn't paying a lot of attention since I had read about this on this forum.

I was just glad she knew about it and admitted GM knows about it. I am in a Colorado for now they only had this one 4wd vehicle left on the lot and it was just turned in.

Thanks

I had experienced this issue last week after using my OnStar app to remote start.  Dealer reset it so the CEL could come off.  But today I experienced the Service Brake, etc messages again without any OnStar remote start.  Sitting in the truck in Accessory mode for 10-15 minutes.  CarPlay playing some music.  Then started the truck inside and boom.  Service Brake galore.  Dealer suspected my Accessory mode usage zapped the already low battery to trigger the messages.  Anyone experiencing the same?

Does sort of backup the low voltage theory but then there is another problem. Sitting for 15 mins runs your battery down enough to give you brake errors is not a good thing.

I sent a certified letter and GM has called me every day. I was unavailable every time (in a meeting) however I am going to ask for extended bumper to bumper coverage considering my truck has only had one occurrence since the trip to the dealership last week.

Seems very reasonable.  I hope they agree.

It seems GM has come out with a software fix to address the Remote Start feature thru Onstar which affects braking. PIT 5728B is the new TSB.

Be careful. I'll bet the brakes are spongy.

I called up the tow, I didn't want to chance it with the socal freeways... My luck it would fail and I would bump someone haha. OnStar has a truck on the way, about 45 min total since I turned the truck on til tow arrival so I cannot complain, at least they sent a truck asap.

Now let's see what GM say/does.

Have you had the recent Recalls completed on your vehicle? Did you happen to remote start your vehicle with the Chevy/Gmc Myapp? If so GM has a recent software update to hopefully address this situation in PIT 5728B.

If you haven't had these recalls completed, ensure the dealership knows and ensure they get everything done along with the PIT5728B bulletin.

I did have the recalls taken care of by the dealer about two weeks ago or so.

Yes I did start with the app.

When the truck was started back up only the check engine light on. Let's hope for the best. I will update asap

Can anyone post the details of the PIT5728B bulletin?  Wasn’t able to find it via Google maybe too new or it is not publicly viewable?  Sorry, I’m new to this so I don’t know how that works.

    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
    • Any grease on the stud threads of any kind?   Wheel studs should have NOTHING on them for proper torquing and so the nuts don't back off.     Are all of the mating surfaces clean?  So wheel, rotor and hub?     We've had plenty of trucks at work with that wheel, this is a first to me.  Makes me think they've got a lube tech putting anti-seize on all the wheel studs or some kind of grease, and they need to stop doing that.  To have 11 other trucks with the same exact problem.
    • I was a Chevy guy for years, then switched to GMC because I liked the looks better.  I'm actually thinking I like the Chevy looks better than GMC for the first time in a lot of years.   One thing I know for certain, the new GMC dash is hideous!  Chevy wins this one!
