They just keep pushing the availability date back 2 week at a time. I wish they'd get them in stock already. Wanting to buy one.

For those who may still be interested, the site (ordered from rangetechnology) still says to allow 1-2 weeks due to demand.  However, mine came pretty fast.  Ordered late Tuesday, shipped Thursday, arrived Friday. Hardly sounds like a backlog, but maybe I just got lucky.

I purchased 2020 Chevy Trailboss 6.2L and I just hit over 6k miles and had take into shop bad lifters and bent rod.  Very disappointing.  I purchased the Pulsar LT today and when I get my truck back I plan to disable DFM and Auto/Stop Start.  I have noticed black res exhaust tail end cap or tips which indicates possible oil and gas issue also which could lead to carbon build up.  I hope turning off DFM will also resolve this and running all 8 cyl will burn properly and have cleaner exhaust. Think will also prolong life of engine (I hope) I’ve owned FORD , TOYOTA, NIssan but this is my first Chevy truck and having major engine issues 6k miles is concerning.

Sorry to hear of your issue with the 6.2L. 

When you mentioned the bent "rod" are you speaking of a piston rod or a pushrod?

BTW, you'll really like the Pulsar LT. 👍

It’s pushrod.  Yeah everything I read says Pulsar must have to really get truck perform like it should.  I hope the new parts have resolved any manufacturing issue that causes failure in the first place.  My understanding trucks built certain time period has had this issue and have found these lifters didn’t meet spec and there were little to no quality control during COVID

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 6.2L.  I always drive using L3 thru L10.  I’m pretty sure this keeps all 8 cylinders firing & it keeps auto start / stop dis-engaged.

 

Does anyone else do this, agree or disagree with this?

 

I have over 6K miles & no problems to date.

I just installed the Pulsar LT on my 2021 Sierra AT4 6.2.  Five minutes to install the hardware.  10 minutes to program.  Very easy.  Speedo calibration for bigger tires worked perfectly when checked against GPS on Google maps.  My truck doesn't have Auto/Stop so I cant speak to that.  But the DFM is NOW DISABLED.  I have a Borla exhaust and I could always tell when it kicked into "chopper" mode.  Now V8 all the time.  Pricey, yes. Worth every penny. 👍

Yes, November ? 2020 through March ?, 2021.  There is a topic on this forum specifically about the defective lifter issue.  A GM tech who works at the engine plant stated that engines built before and after those dates have the "good" lifters and lifter springs and should be fine.  But I still disabled DFM anyway with the Pulsar LT, even though my engine was built way after the defective date.  DFM causes way too much wear and tear on the lifters and pushrods with the constant activate/deactivating!  V8 all the time is the way to go.  Be sure to remove the device prior to any dealer service appointment.  Only takes a couple minutes  to install/uninstall.  👍

To summarize the other thread... the motors affected were built before 3/4/2021. The TSB states the truck VIN build dates that are affected (with the aforementioned motors) are between 9/1/2020 & 3/31/2021.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these to replace my Range device on my 2020 RST. My truck sits during the week because I have a company truck, so I have to unplug the Range device every time the truck sits for several days to make sure the battery doesn't drain down.

 

I'm curious if anyone with the Pulsar LT has a truck that sits for several days at a time. If so, have you had any battery drain with it?

I've had my Edge Products Pulsar LT for 4+ months now and my truck can sit untouched for up to two weeks with no issues of any battery drain. 👍

Yes, I do the same thing, drive in L3 through L9 since I purchased the truck in March 2021. Also disable the auto stop/start every time I drive. So far, so good.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
