Equipment failure after mandatory software update

Recently Chevy had a mandatory software update for my 2024 Silverado 1500. After receiving this update from my local dealership I started experience electronics issues. It started with the instrument touchscreen losing touch control. Next my safety sensors started not functioning properly. Since then I have experienced other issues with the auto stop not functioning correctly. The front dash instrument panel resetting from what I had selected to display.

So...take it back then.  They could have had something not take right during the update or forgot to do a setup procedure.

So simple I wish I thought of that! I tried that had to wait almost a month for them to get a “loaner vehicle” when they finally did I show up to drop off my vehicle and to get the loaner, then the first time ever I’m asked for a credit card!? I was not told this before coming to the dealership nor was I expecting the service manager to say that it’s a rental through GM! Now with the issues and this new occurrence I was not feeling comfortable with leaving my new truck with this dealership again. I immediately got with Chevy corp. on the phone are so happy to help but nothing got ancc then it was escalated to GM with only pictures of the truck the Vin and proof of purchase/title mind you this vehicle hasn’t  been in for any service prior to the software update or after this software update but GM/Chevy now has denied any responsibility. Problem is all my issues with this truck now have started after their mandatory software update. By principal this should be handled by Chevy/GM at no expense to me including a loaner vehicle!

Whenever I have been given a loaner it is a rental. Whenever you get a rental you have to present a credit card. There is no charge for a loaner unless you damage it.

Exactly what silveradosid and bikerjon said, GM pays for the rental and you pay nothing, the presenting the card card is normal as you always have to show one just in case you damage the rental even if you rent one on your own you have to show a credit card no matter what. If you would have went along with what they wanted AT NO CHARGE TO YOU your truck would have been fixed by now your going to have to fight the denying warranty claim from GM which is going to be a long road now.

 

I had a 2015 2500HD that was in the shop for about a week GM gave me a rental yes I had to show a credit card for reasons stated above and it was NO charge to me.

This is the first time I’ve ever been asked for a credit card for a loaner if that was what they needed they should’ve expressed that when they scheduled the appointment just like everything else they told me to bring. I’ve never been asked for a credit card with a loaner. I’ve given my drivers license, registration and the thing that should keep me from giving a credit card my proof of insurance in case there was an incident but never my credit card to be billed.

It's basically to replenish the gas you use when you return the vehicle without refilling at least to where it was when taken. I just went through the same deal with mine for the software update and Supercruise maps update. I always stop and fill up the car/truck regardless of how much gas was in it to start with. 

In your case, you would have been jumped to the front of the line because it's a comeback. You'd probably be back and repaired now if you weren't all worried about a dumb cc.

So I wanted to follow up on my original post. I received another email that my software needed to be updated so I took my truck to a GM dealership different than the first Chevy dealership I went to. They were courteous to explain the loaner/rental program that is now the protocol to use a separate company as a rental car versus 20 years ago when the dealership would give you a loaner! More importantly the truck ended up having an issue with the serial data gateway causing all of my electrical issues. I will certainly be going back to General motors to make me whole on the damages to my vehicle due to their system malfunctioning after their certified Chevrolet dealership did a “mandatory software update“ creating all these issues that were not present before.

      Not sure about DFM tech but i know there's a stop/start deactivation button.

      I could be interested if they axed cylinder deactivation and at least have a button for stop start. I’m sure the HP numbers will be higher. I would want a longer warranty to help build confidence. I’m a less is more guy as I get older. A V-8 work truck model would be my choice. I know a few outfitters for custom additions I prefer.

      It's official. GMC pulled the covers off the next-gen 2027 Sierra 1500, and we got the first official look.       My overnight hospital stay turned into five.  I developed a post operative fever and an erratic  heart rate.  A blood clot in the lungs was the culprit.  This is apparently a common post surgical complication and easily remedied.   I was the youngest in a four bed ward and a Doctor with a Geriatric specialization was in charge of my care.  All of the nurses were good and some were outstanding at dealing with old people.  It was very evident that my age triggered a different level of care!  My advice to any senior going for a hospital stay is to have a trusted family member advocate visible.  If not, you will still be well cared for, but you may discover that your voice  isn't as strong as it once was!
