Mine`s been making this ticking noise since 5 miles or so. Last night I ran the piss out of this thing. 5600 rpms more than a few times.

If it had bad lifters, would it have blown up by now?🤔

I had a non-AFM lifter fail before the AFM lifters did in a 2010 5.3. Several of them actually wore out the lobes on the camshaft. Oil had been changed religiously every 5,000 miles, too. Mobil1 full synthetic. Only code present was for a dead misfire on cylinder 2(?), and was obvious no matter what we did. We changed everything on the affected cylinder from the coil, to fuel injectors, to plug and wire, to downright pulling the valve cover. NOTHING surprises me anymore.

The most current version of this covers to 2024 - 19-NA-218 1..3

I listened to your video again.  Definitely is engine related.  Lifter not pumping up, broken valve spring, bent push rod.

GM has an audio clip in TSB 23-NA-170 of bad crank bearing and its not an intermittent noise like what you've got going on at idle in your clip.  Its a constant noise.  So I don't "think" your issue is lower end.  23-NA-170 1..3  Dealer can pull up the audio file in the TSB.

They can run a power balance per PI5832A to see if it can isolate to a top end or bottom end noise - MC-11007011-0001.pdf

It does not sound transmission related as others have suggested.  There is a TSB for 10 speed noise concerns with audio files that the dealer can pull up.  The noises are very specific and are gear, bearing or fluid level related.  TSB is 24-NA-264, service dept. can play the audio.

A gentleman and a scholar. Thank you. I submitted this to the service advisor and he said he appreciated the heads up and will most certainly have his tech looped in.

I noticed today, at 2600 miles, this ticking was mostly gone. This thing has been doing this ticking since new. Go figure.

Oh boy. What broke….?

Iv`e got my factory warranty. As we used to say," it`s either gonna go or blow." I ran the piss out of it last night. Seems happy now.

Have you been running 5w-30 in it since you bought it?

Of interest;

On new vehicles, the various mechanical and electrical systems adjust during the first 6,400 km (4,000 miles) of routine driving to provide optimal fuel economy and transmission shift performance.
Electrical systems will adapt and calibrate during the break-in period. A one-time occurrence of clicks and similar vehicle noises is normal during this process.
Normal driving charges the vehicle battery to achieve the best operation of the vehicle.

Mine does the same thing since new. `25, 5.3. Goes away when hot.

***Dealer started a case. Tick is engine related, the rattle is transmission. They’re going to start teardown tomorrow.***

They’re replicated my concerns. Tick is engine related, rattle is transmission related.

I hope everthing gets fixed for you. I have had 3 T1s and have had no problems so far.

Knock on wood.

It’s aggravating. I read on another post that the rattle could be exhaust valve related, with age…but my truck has less than 700 miles on it. I guess that, if the case is exhaust valve, I got a bad one. That still doesn’t explain the tick in the video at idle, CLEARLY coming from the engine.

I've had 3 T1 trucks, and only one was not problematic. It was a 2021 LT Trail Boss, 6.2/10 speed. It had 12,000 miles on it. I had to trade up because my job status was questionable and I had a baby on the way. Now I regret doing that.
