Just had the dealer install 0 dubya 40 instead of 0-20. It's killing 6.2 's and 0-40 is now installed as a fix for 6.2's

I'm pulling at max load on my 5.3 and want best protection during summer months. Asked for 0 dubya 40 instead. Sure, good choice service manager said. Come time to pay bill, it's double the already high price to change oil. Over $300 Canadian. Can't wait for Amazon to open oil centres....lol

So be prepared if you decide to upgrade to better protection!!

Wonder if the 5w30, that they put in the 2.7`s, the LV1`s, and the L8T`s is the same price as the 0w20?

The 0w40 has become suddenly famous. This causes supply shortages.

"What is cheaper?

The price of your oil or the price of your equipment?"

And if the truck needs/gets a new 6.2 under that program -- it will be on the the 0W20.

This thread was started on the cost of an oil change.

You guys have Walmart there? If so is the price of Mobil 1 0W40 double the price of Mobil 1 0W20? Same price here.

When I checked a few weeks ago neither Walmart or Canadian Tire had 0w40 dexos R the store. And when I can find it i

the price is considerably more. Please make sure we are comparing 0w20 Dexos1 prices to 0w40 Dexos R prices and not a regular 0w40….

Not sure on the price difference. I'm sure dexos R 0w-40 is more than 0w-20.  So an oil change will be more.

It isn't supply and demand. It's grab and greed. :wtf:

That !

Pretty much overnight, they approved multiple Mobil1 products as Dexos R event though the bottle doesnt say it is. Mobil 1 FS European Car Formula Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-40 is pretty much the same price as other 5QT jugs.

Exactly.  The 0w40 is only to bandaid the passed engines and hope they survive the extended warranty period 😉
