Another vote for color match. I couldn't stand the chrome front end I had on my Blue Granite Metallic.

What is the best way to go about replacing the parts? Should I goto the dealer and say I changed my mind and see if they have the black parts lying around? I ordered the truck custom b/c I wanted a tan interior but the chrome parts said they were "dealer installed". Is there any difference in the handles? I noticed on cars like the suburban they have a smooth surface and some silverados have a textured, more plasticky type surface. Or would anyone like to "upgrade" to chrome and trade parts?

Due to the rarity of my truck color, I found the easiest way to match the front end was to take it to a body shop and get it painted. Painting over chrome can be done, it's just the proper prep work needs to go into it. Look around the forums for your color parts first. The wonderful thing about a paint shop is you can get an almost exact match guaranteed.

I had the black textured door handles which I quickly swapped for a pair I found on ebay. Same goes for the mirror caps. I have some Escalade DL3 mirrors now which match my color. The mirrors are great except they have a bit of chrome on the underside of them :dunno:

That's a smart look! I like how the chrome compliments instead of overwhelms the front. Nice work!

thanks man. my dad grills me about it being black now, says the chrome made it look more high end. i always argue saying it looks more like a denali with the chrome gone. to each their own i guess.

I don't like that much chrome. My neighbor drives a 900 that looks like a Putco chrome grenade went off next to it. If it is chrome and sticks on, he has it. I don't like it, IMO.

Personally, I prefer less chrome....especially the stick on stuff. As time goes, I will probably get rid of nearly all the chrome on my truck. It will just be gray with black accents.
