Trying to do the same thing, have 1 1/2" level kit. Spoke to someone who recommended removing it, and installing a reading 4" suspension lift. Retains the stock shocks, replaces the upper control arms, and will make the truck level. Was going to do the zone 1" body lift, but he said this was a much better option

I have multiple quotes from different places on different brands.

 

ProComp - $3200

FabTech - $2000

Rough Country - $1600

 

I'll take any comments, referrals and thoughts.

I like the BDS 6inch lift. It is a full strut replacement lift system and are better than the cheap rancho struts that come stock. And if your vehicle is approaching an age where it will need new shocks soon, you are causing yourself double the hassle by installing a zone lift kit or any other kit that uses front strut spacers for lift because you will end up spending more money on labor replacing the stock struts down the line sooner rather than later.  Plus you can run 35x12.5s with minimum trimming on a 6in lift.

Thank you. I decided to go with the Readylift 4". I really like how my truck looks, I like the wheel wells to be full. GM unfortunately has very narrow wheel openings which greatly restricts the use of larger tires, so you have to lift the truck far higher then others, and I don't like that look. I'll post pics Friday or Sat when its finished.

Not a big fan of stuffing the wheel wells. Seems counterintuitive to having a lift kit, especially if you plan on off roading where clearance is important. You don’t want to be scraping the bottom of your truck on tree branches and rocks and the more clearance you have, the deeper water you can tread without worrying about flooding your exhaust.  I run a 6inch BDS with Fox 2.0s. 20x10 Fuels. 35x12.50 Nitto Ridge.

Details are in signature. Best decision I ever made was ripping that ... Rough Country lift off my truck.

If you’re going to lift make sure you do it right first time. Don’t be like me and spend over $8000 fixing your mistake.

Look at doing a CST 4.5” lift, retains factory track width and turning radius as well as front shocks “if” you want to keep them which I’d highly recommend not to. All you’d have to do is add longer new rear shocks.

 

The Kit: $1600 plus install

Rear shocks: $200 (Bilstein 5100’s)

So I’ve looked at what seems like a million kits and I figured I’d go ahead and ask opinions. Truck is a 2018 GMC 1500, 2WD. Looking at lifts 6”-7”, was looking at the Zone 6.5” kit and lots of people like that, but for ride quality have been looking at coilovers. Is there any way to add coilovers to the Zone kit or do I need to look at another lift? Pro Comp, Mcgaughys, it’s quite a bit to take in. Any help is welcomed.


You can add high quality CST, King, Fox Coil Overs and possibly some cheaper ones to though I’d avoid the cheaper ones.

I’d highly recommend CST 4.5” Lift!

BDS is owned by Fox, good lift but CST is a far superior lift. Zone is the lower end owned by BDS and a great value but both BDS and Zone will give you that stupid widened look that ruins your turning radius and track width (unless you’re into that) which requires you to rethink your tires and wheels offset as well as requiring you to add controversial rear spacers to get your rears to match front widened track width.

 

I’ve got the CST 4.5” and LOVE IT! Very comfortable daily driver and you can fit anywhere.

 

2.25” Leveled with 33’s +1 offset

damit. i didnt read your post till now. ugh.. i did go with the bds 4" lift 712h kit. as well as moto metal mo970s gloss black  20x10 -24 o/s w 33x12.5 ridge grapplers. install next tues. hope i made the right choice. thanks for the response ?

If you just ordered, cancel it or reject it unless it’s to late. But, you’ll be fine, you’ll definitely need rear spacers probably 1.75”, hope it all goes well for you.

ya its a done deal.  but i think ill be happy. why ya suggest the rear spacers? is it my offset or is it the fact the rear is narrower from factory/stock n it will look/stand out as so.. thanks again for your feed back, its very helpfull
