Oh then my bad lol. Learn something new everyday. Why is it cheaper if it is a higher grade?

You get about 25% less MPGs.

That email doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy. If you want to try e85, I'd first suggest putting your stock tune back on and maybe running e85 on that and see how it goes.

Pinging, partial throttle or WOT, no good in my opinion.

I agree his response didn't make me feel very good about trying it. I think I will test it out with the premium tune though. I mean the truck is designed to run on e85 so I don't think I need to test e85 on stock. If I hear any pinging I will immediately put back the stock tune and it should run just fine since the truck is made to run on e85...

These engines are much more efficient with e85 than the old flex fuel vehicles. My averages on summer e85 were very respectable. 18-19 hwy isn't horrible considering how much more I was into the throttle. The extra power is noticeable.

Lower grade? As in what kind of grading? Quality? Octane? Price? Public perception?

The "85" in E85 does not refer to octane rating, but the volumetric concentration of ethanol (alcohol). It has even higher octane rating than Premium-labeled gasoline yet at a price lower (most of the time) than Regular-labeled gasoline.

I only use E85. $1.30 where I live but don't drive the truck everyday, it's just a toy. I have noticed a difference in power and the computer is saying avg 16.1 mpg. Don't know how accurate those are though.

I reset the avg. mileage and now it's showing 12.3, big difference.

You can check my fuelly numbers in my sig. I'm right around 13 with 60% city driving. I'm leveled with 33" tires, LT/E rated.

We got about 18" of snow last night 50 miles round trip in 4wd Auto i saw 10.8 MPG with E85 there is a huge difference. 2wd with E85 70% Highway 30% city i was seeing 13.5 MPG. Running 91 i was seeing 21mpg Same driving. But the power is much more noticeable.

45k on the clock. No tuner of any kind. Just the mods in signature. E85 a new local station was $2.01/gal. 87 was $2.21. The owner's manual says to drive about 7 miles to allow the vehicle to learn the new fuel. I agree, it took a bit for it to learn. First impressions are good. I'm in love. the throttle response is so much better. It's like this truck was built for E85 and 87 petrol was the secondary fuel. I haven't put many miles on but good lord does it feel awesome so far. Driving in traffic is so much easier.

Nope, e85 is around 100 octane.

this is inaccurate, its more like 94-96 octane, the mistake is comparing gas octane to E-85 octane.

I have already stated this, please read

E85 is an abbreviation for an ethanol fuel blend of 85% denatured ethanol fuel and 15% gasoline or other hydrocarbon by volume. Ethanol’s true octane value range, is about 94-96 (R+M)/2
