Me too. I hate to see the uninformed getting bad information from these forums and spending more money than is needed for a 2.5" level. Also silly is the debate about plastic versus aluminum spacers. I could almost agree about putting UCAs due to the extreme angles from a level, but I have yet to see anyone post that their stock ball joints are wearing out at 50K miles....and there are tons of leveled 2014s getting up there in mileage. And new UCAs are $800 plus install plus alignment....so you might as well let the stockers wear out first.

Exactly. Even so though as long as you spray silicone on your cv boots so they don't dry and tear and don't go on trail rides every day they will last plenty long, might have to replace ball joints at 50K miles vs 80K with a stock set up. Not a big deal to me. At that point I'll stick new UCAs on and it'll be good for a long time.

 

Yeah that composite material used in level and spacer kits honestly is better. It's less money, more durable, can't corrode, absorbs shocks and impact a bit better. There's only benefit to it, but hey it's their money. They'll find out when they crank a strut at its maximum height and get 1.7 inches of lift it will ride like shit.

 

Plus half the time they over look that they stuck an aggressive 10 ply E rated tire on the truck. That alone will make your ride more rough than any spacer lol

You can run a spindle lift. CST suspension has them.
Socal Supertrucks has been installing quite a few on 2wd trucks.

Well talked with Socal today and they are changing lower arms on New trucks with the 2piece steel arms, to the older lower steel cast and replacing upper arms to make a Spindle CST spindle lift to work.....FYI

Not believing everything I hear or read it is my understanding the Bilsteins are a better shock (better ride) than the Ranchos. I just replaced my rears yesterday with 5100's and the ride it noticeably better.

My truck had a 2" level and I added the top spacer to get that ever so important (sarcasism) 1/2" extra and the ride suffered to me. I'm going to go back to the Bilsteins ( 2012 F-150) for a better ride and have talked with other forum members and read that that ride is better. I'm no longer worried about that 1/2" which I believe worsened my ride.

I am the first to admit my knowledge on this is minimal but that's why come on here to hopefully teach my old ass something and just check out what others are doing.

All of these arguments are good and make complete sense to me. However, I have yet to hear from someone who doesn't like their bilsteins. Is anyone out there?

I had 100k KM (~60k miles) on my '14 double cab with LTs from day one and didn't have any wear shown when I sold it. GM inspected and passed - only thing was needed was some rear brake pads which was impressive enough. I agree the 2" has little to no impact for a daily driver...

Thinking of picking up a 2.5" RC kit and was wanting to run RBP HK-5 20x9 wheels. Any suggestions as far tire size looking at Toyo or Nitto Terra Grapplers. For some reason I have always liked the look of tires sticking out just a bit past the fender and saw someone with 20x9 with +14 offset with 320/50 and they stuck out about 1" outside the fender, he was also running the 2.5" RC kit.

Just and update down about 2 MPG with RC 2.5 level and 305/55/20 toyo xtremes 10 plys. You do notice the power to weight ratio but man I love the look, ride, ride height. You don't buy a truck like this if your worried about mpg. My wife drives a Nissan Altima 4 banger what she saves i'll burn.

Ok so I have tapatalk now and don't like it but it is what it is. Here is my 2016 Silverado LT-Z71. It doesn't have all the technology like my old Dodge Charger rt Max AWD but it can haul my dirtbike and I love everything about it. I plan on putting a 2.25" level on the front. Those stock 22" wheels and the tires make for an already bumpy ride but I could care less. I like bouncing around and I like em loud. I currently have the tonneau soft cover, window shades, tinted windows, side steps,'black emblems, front good clear protectant film, line-x bed, spintech 6000 single in single out muffler in stock location, and my favorite mod of all is my QTP electronic cutout. It makes it roar. In V4 mode it sounds like a Harley Davidson, and shakes my teeth out of my face. Best mod ever!!!!!

I know this has been beat to death. I have a 2016 Silverado with a 2 1/4" front level only. Looking at All Terrain rims 20x9 +27mm offset, replicas. Mounted on BF Goodrich K02's 275/65/20.

 

Im assuming no rubbing or maybe a slight potential on full lock turn in the front. Also is it a better bet to go with 275/60's

 

Need to be more assured before i pull the trigger

The spintech 6000 was actually much more quiet than I anticipated. Then again I only have one in one out, but not loud enough for me. The tone is second to none. It sounds the best out of any I've heard. I am used to flowmaster original 40's. I liked the drone and the volume. The spintech 6000 seems about 25% more quiet and that's taking into consideration that it's only a single and my flowmasters were all duals. Overall it's a great sound but I wanted ridiculousness so I added the QTP cutout and now she screams at the push of a switch. I've got the best of both worlds.

If anyone wants to hear the spintech 6000 or the qtp cutout and the videos won't loud I can't email them to you. Just let me know

 

A quick side note...... Either I was still half asleep or having a wet road with my cutout open made it 50% louder than when it's dry. I am an audio engineer by trade so it does make sense that the water on the road fills in the gaps in the concrete or asphalt creating a more flat surface for the sound to reflect evenly. Call me crazy but it definetly woke me up pretty good. God I love that thing!!

Nice combination! I am considering a similar setup. Is the difference in handling or gas mileage significant?

    • If everything checks out at the MAF, then the MAF is BAD, new or not.   You don't need a signal generator to troubleshoot this. PCM needs ALL powers and ALL grounds able to light a halogen headlight bulb - if it can light the bulb bright, then the wiring is good enough to run the PCM.   Best thing you can do for yourself is spend some time here: scannerdanner.com - Check out all his YouTube videos on similar issues. If you decide to subscribe it's the best bang-for-buck ratio in the automotive world, hands-down. He's got TONS of free vids on YouTube, too.
    • Yes, I used my multimeter to probe all of the wires at the MAF, both with the sensor connected, sensor disconnected, key on engine off, key on engine running, etc etc etc. I probed all of the wires again at the PCM, at the connectors, etc. All voltages are what they should be according to the service manual/wiring diagrams. All grounds are good, less than 20 millivolts from the battery negative under load. Both at the connector of the MAF, at the PCM connector etc.      I know this throws a pretty big wrench into things, but this truck was acting up before the swap. I don't have very much information, if any on what was causing it, but if you cleared all of the dtcs it would do the same thing where it would crank, fire, then die. And it would do the same thing a dozen or so times, and eventually it would start and run, but the difference is that it would run and actually be drivable. Whereas now if you can drive it at all, it goes into reduced power mode almost immediately, and even then it's not running correctly. When you come to a stop at a light it stumbles down to for 500 RPM before catching itself and returning to the smooth idle. And if you go more than about 50% throttle then it immediately goes back to doing the misfire thing.    Like I said, I know that throws a wrench into things, and unfortunately I was not able to pull any data or anything like that before I did this work, so I don't have much to go on.    I'm trying to not fixate on one particular thing as the cause of the problem, but it seems like all avenues are pointing me towards the PCM. Like I said I have tested the wiring extensively (see above), and during cranking the sensor does produce seemingly legitimate values at least according to my multimeter, but as soon as the engine fires those values quickly descend into gibberish. I've tried it with multiple different known working sensors, I have done literally every test I can think of multiple times on the wiring (probing the signals, probing the pins with the sensors unplugged, probing the pins at the PCM, voltage drop, voltage drop under load, continuity, ohms, and double-checking everything against the wiring diagrams/ proper values in the service data.)    Another thing that pushes me towards a possible PCM failure is, I have noticed in troubleshooting a little bit taking a break and coming back, that when I leave the truck to sit for a while and cool off, it starts and runs smoothly when I first start it up. However once it warms up. It starts having problems. For example, when I went out to the truck this morning after it had been sitting overnight, I was actually able to drive it down the block. And then once I got on the throttle a Little bit after going about a thousand ft, it started misfiring again. I pulled it back into the driveway, shut it down, and started it back up. It idled smoothly. As soon as I touched the throttle it did the misfire thing again. From then on as soon as I started it it would misfire. I shut the truck off and went to go get a coffee and do a bit more research. When I came back out I started the truck up and it immediately went into the smooth idle. After a couple of minutes of playing around with it, it would not idle smoothly anymore. Let it sit a couple of hours, rinse and repeat. This makes me think with temperature change something is going wrong inside the PCM. I have the PCM out of the 2007 donor vehicle and I'm thinking of getting a one-day subscription to the ACDelco programming service to try and program that and see if it helps.   Like I said, I'm really trying to not fixate myself on one potential cause, but it seems everything is pointing me towards PCM failure. I would really like to try to confirm that, but unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope or a signal generator to do the GM service procedure where you feed 5 khz into the signal pin.
