GM Roadside Assistance NIGHTMARE

I think the OP and I have different definitions of NIGHTMARE...

Yep, just file it under "..it happens". Just think, before cell phones, we had to have friends and folks that would stop to help.

One warning on OnStar is that it runs thru sprint and does not work in a lot of rural areas. So do not depend only on such. I use ATT here in south Texas and it works in rural areas. OnStar drops me all the time or fails to even connect in some areas (like our rural pasture).

Also 1-3 hrs is not a bad deal for being stranded. They do not park tow/repair trucks on corners waiting for break downs. I use Triple A as they will tow you and the group up to 200 miles (does not have to be your truck, just you and whoevers car/truck); Not just the truck to the nearest GM dealer.

ALSO, Triple A allows you to give a donated tow (or flat change, gas etc...), if you see some one stranded and stop to help.

Just got OnStar and my 2014 GMC Sierra. So far, it's cool to use my phone app to start my truck and look at tire pressures and send directions to my truck, other than that....ehhhh.... I don't see myself paying for it after my trial is expired. Satellite radio on the other hand; an expensive MUST.

I wish there there a plan that allowed me to just be able to send directions to my NAV. That was awesome. Saves the 5 minutes of entering the location address in when you hop into your truck. Which in turn saves the 5 minutes spent idling and wasting gas, and 5 minutes you could use to get to your destination.

I renew my XM every 6 months for around $5-$6 a month. I just tell them that I do not want it to be auto-renewed. So after 6 months the service shuts off for a few days, then I get hounded with phone calls with another 6 month deal at the same rate. I've never paid full price for XM radio. Ever. I've done this in my past 3 vehicles over the course of 4-5 years.

Onstar girl just called me. Tried to explain all the cool stuff it can do. Nothing sounded cool except the story I posted above...to me. I need my tire pressures and oil life emailed to me? REALLY? Gimme a break.
