Kind of a crazy question but has anyone purchased the corsa catback and had it welded together instead of using the clamps?

I want to get the corsa but a little nervous of someone just unbolting and stealing it. Hell even just unbolting and stealing the tip would piss me off.

I'm actually planning on getting the Corsa some time next year and was also thinking about getting it welded. Dont want to spend a grand and someone unbolt it and get it for free lol

Ended up doing my side exit. Kept the same muffler just different pipes and tips. Love the looks. It’s def louder than before but still no drone in the cabin!

Headers are going to completely change the sound the exhaust. A lot more rasp and airflow. That Carven will probably be too loud especially if you opt for no cats.  You could do a third cat delete. That will let a little more sound thru and shouldnt have any effect on emissions or drivability.

I’m running Texas Speed 1 7/8” long tubes with cats, single 3” back to a Dynomax 17267 muffler, followed by a Borla Atak crate muffler(400844). I absolutely love it. This is an iteration of several different set ups. In my opinion, it’s the perfect amount of volume, tone, rasp, and rumble. Quiet when you stay out of it but will wake the dead if you lay into it. You can hear it in the cab but it’s not drone, more you just feel the exhaust. Exhaust is so subjective though. Some people like it loud and deep, some like rasp and that glass pack sound, some like it barely louder then stock. It’s really up to you. This is my current set up. Rear window down just normal driving and medium acceleration.

So i need options and opinions i currently run a Carven Progressive series catback on my 18 silverado 5.3l. I'm getting ready to have a kid and i would like to tone it back some but dont want to go completely back to stock. I love the current exhaust but it is a little bit loud inside and out. My thought are to just swap mufflers so i would need a 3" in and 3" out centered muffler. What do yall recommend? Looking for something not crazy just would like a little bit of tone to it. Thanks in advance.

If you are looking to tone it down then I would go with a 14” or 18” Magnaflow. It would still sound good but be much quieter.

It’s funny I have a 3yr old and a 4month old and I’m about to put a Carven R series muffler on my 2016. Lol.

Can't really go wrong with a Magnaflow muffler. There are times I wish it was louder but it's nice at other times to enjoy the quiet in the cab.

My wife drives my truck occasionally and leaving the driveway she's got the gas a little heavy.

It's definitely authoritative and mean sounding outside. I have the 6.2 but the 5.3 would be similar.

Np. To me its that pulse that makes the exhaust note better the the magnaflow. Sounds like a it has a truck/ Camaro exhaust if that makes sense. Quiet on light throttle and loud with a pulse on heavy throttle. Magnaflow is more of a flat drone with a dull pulse. Cheers!

speaking of pulse, Douge thorly makes a redesigned header that has two scavengers from the 4 primaries into a final collector scavenger, its designed to bump the low to mid power, on the 5.3, something these motors need more of.. I can only imaging guys bolting on the big 6.2 longtubes on a 5.3 and not making any bottom end torque ...

    • Over the last week I installed GM coils, Taylor wires and Red Line SI-1 in the fuel which cleared up a slightly rough idle. Coils made the biggest difference even just A/B testing one bank at a time. I know everyone says the OEM ones last forever but at 212k on these units they were tired. Fade to failure, like shock absorbers in my experience. Also slightly richened the target idle AFR in the tune for good measure. I have zero tolerance for anything less than buttery smooth, and since emissions are not a concern I can get there any way I please.
    • ^^ Yep, that's all it was. The fuel line had rubbed through on one of the spider legs and was severely leaking. Even the lines/nut and bolt kit are harder to find and I think I paid $84 (Standard HK-11) for the kit. Ripoff. But when you're the only brand still making it...   There are a few things left before the truck is Atlas® Certified (and I've thoroughly spent too much on it considering what it's worth). My RockAuto shopping cart total is about $250 and growing:   -Radiator (there's a pinhole leak, driver's upper corner where a cooling line bolts in, the threaded insert weld cracked) -Water pump (mine squeaks, I assume it's shot) -Lower radiator hose (it's original, if replacing cooling parts, this shall be touched too) -Starter (It's not always engaging the flywheel, get the whirrrrrr sometimes when I turn the key but no crank) -Door hinge replacement pins (already purchased, need to install)   Suspect/borderline parts NOT included in shopping cart (only if I want to opt for bonus points): -Motor mounts. Someone twerked the radiator fan shroud, so I can't tell if the motor mounts are bad/squished or if it's truly just a deformed fan shroud. I reassembled the shroud correctly but the plastic is still re-forming/relaxing where it was all mangled and bent, and the fan still chafes it occasionally, but it's 99% better. -Left rear door speaker is blown -Rear wiper motor is shot (horrible grinding noise) -One of the wheels is missing the bowtie center cap. This drives me insane to look at, I'll just need to find a replacement.   I've already replaced: -Driver's door mirror -Idler pulley -Tensioner pulley -EGR -MAP sensor -Hood prop retainer -Intake plenum fuel lines -Intake gaskets -Thermostat (and flushed cooling system) -Radiator cap -Radiator overflow reservoir cap   And it needs tires, and could use a set of front brake pads, and the brake system flushed. And it could use a transmission service, and if I'm doing that, why not differentials, and transfer case, and oh hell, why not flush the power steering.   Is there anything I won't touch? Or...do I just get it to a point where I can send it down the road?
    • Was checking out a 39 Buick at a charity auction and found the statement on the cover of the owners manual interesting. What it can do for you, and what YOU can do for IT? Framing your ownership as a two way relationship! Seems this type of thinking is all but gone with the non-enthusiasts, and something like that would never be printed on the cover of a manual. It would likely offend people. Hey, I just spent two years salary on an SUV and it has the nerve to request anything back from me???? 😂
    • thanks, I'll look for that now.
    • Make sure your phone software is up to date.  Some people have had issues lately with bluetooth on GM radios and their phone had a security update or something that fixed it.
