Retrax vs Roll n Lock

To anyone with a Roll N Lock cover.....I'm just wondering does this cover move at all (or flap) on the interstate ?

I'm worried with a regular cab if it did I'd be able to hear it in the truck.

Probably going with the Roll N Lock A series metal cover.....I want one that will retract and one that will not cover the Chevrolet on the top of the bedside....doesn't look like I have many options.

Thanks for the help and any ideas !

I bought a gator trax tonneau cover in flat black. It's retractable and water proof. I love it. Really easy to install as well. Set me back about $1200.

I have had the Roll N Lock cover for a year. It's watertight, secure, quiet and doesn't flap. More than ten times better than the BakFlip on my last truck.

One last question for you....Do you use 303 Protectant on it ?

And if you do....Do you ever notice any residue from it down the sides of the truck after a rain ?

My last truck had a Full Metal Jackrabbit so I didn't have to put any protectant on it.

Thanks for your help !

Yes I do use 303 maybe every couple of months. I think the Roll N Lock literature says to use it when you wash the truck but when I did my install I had to call the tech with a few questions and I think he said that a couple of times a year was probably enough. My truck is in a carport most of the time so 2x a year might be enough for me. The 303 is also very good for keeping the tracks operating smoothly.

Roll N Lock customer support and techs were very helpful and responsive, patient and easy to understand. I'd say if you have any questions before you buy just give them a call.

Sorry, forgot. No, I have never seen any residue from the 303 and I'm pretty picky about taking good care of the truck and sure I would have if it were there.

Is it really waterproof? Or just water resistant? I want one of these types of covers (RollnLock, Retrax ect) but none are actually waterproof, just weather resistant.

I have the gator trax power on mine and love it. during the recent heavy downpours here in Tennessee it only had a couiple of drops back by the tailgate, otherwise completely dry inside

Appreciate the advice....I'm leaning pretty heavy towards this cover or the Revolver X2.....I like them both a lot.

I was concerned about the noise (flapping) on this one, but you have put my mind at ease about that :)

No problem, I'm glad to hear that.....I would hate to have something streaked down the side of the bed after a rain.

Like you I'm pretty picky, probably too much for my own good.....lol

I know this is old but someone brought it back up so I will give my 2 cents. Hands down the Retrax Pro is one of the best. I have had one of their covers on my last two trucks and they have been great. No issues.

Is that one water tight?

Yes, the only leaks I have had thus far are from pressure washing the tailgate... and it goes through the seals rather than the cover.

Does the retrax latch to the tailgate like the roll n lock does?
