Does the tonneau cover improve gas mileage over not using one? I've seen a few people take off their tailgates for better mpg, does this really work?

If you are asking this for purely information purposes, i do not believe there is any discernible difference or if there is, it is minute. If you are asking this as a reason to give your wife for spending several hundred more dollars on your truck, it will pay for itself in six months with all the savings and just might even save the planet!

I didn't notice any difference after I got a mx4 tonneau, but I mostly drive backroads so maybe highway it may be a little different.

Now that there is darn good humor......

....and it works, don't ask me how I know. ?

i don't see a real difference (but there could be a minor difference that i cannot pick up).

I have a soft top roll up.

There’s no difference, atleast not worth mentioning. I owned two Silverado 15, and 19. Both with low pro tonneau covers. Never saw a difference. Biggest mpg difference ffence will come from different rims and tires

From what I've read it only helps at steady speeds above 75 mph. I'm not even sure I believe that. I bought mine so I could haul stuff (musical gear for example) without it getting ruined in the rain.

I miss that show. Wonder why the mesh was better than no tailgate at all?

Something to do with the way the air flows in the bed, I think.

In short: Better to have tailgate installed and closed. Running boards, front air damn, tonneau cover aid in better aerodynamics and increased fuel economy.

All that said, I didn’t notice a difference when adding tonneau cover.

Besides fuel economy, tonneau covers vary so much I'm having the hardest time finding one with reviews and videos, etc. It's worst than finding the right truck.
