Just saw this post.   Pgamboa do the door handles act as turn signals also? How did you do that? Would love that on mine. I have the regular illuminated door handles now but would love the switch backs if i could..

Picking up my brand new, illusion cherry powder-coated 2014 Sierra frame from Quality Powdercoat and Sandblasting in Highland, Michigan. These guys did an absolutely stunning job with the frame and it wasn’t easy. The frame wax was a nightmare to get off. It had to be sand blasted, baked in the oven to melt, spot heat applied in the areas the wax was hiding, then sandblasted again. They then applied the base cherry color, baked it and had to apply the clear coat after the cherry glazed over in the oven but before it cured per the application spec. They then baked it all together to cure, let it sit overnight, and baked it again. Mad props to Brian and Jake at QPC, their attention to detail was impeccable and the result is nothing short of stunning.

That looks beautiful! But I have to ask, why?

Because show truck. I wish GM powdered our frames from the factory. At least give us the option to pay extra and have it done during assembly.

Re-located my RXP dual catch can setup. Now resides off the fender with clear access to the oil cap and dipstick.

The truck was rear-ended last month and the frame needed to be replaced. Insurance is covering the cost of the frame and the 33 hours of labor to replace it.

This gave me a rare opportunity to do away with the factory wax (which I absolutely loathe) and have a more durable finish applied while the new frame was off the truck. I originally was going to do black powder coat. The more I thought about it, I decided to do a color instead because it would still have all the durability benefits of powder coating and would look really unique too.

I’m a big fan of surprise mods that you don’t expect but are impressed with when you see them. Even though off of the truck it’s bright and far from subtle, it will live life mostly hidden from view. For those who catch a glimpse of it through the wheel well and are curious enough to look underneath, I think they will be pleasantly surprised by what they find. I know I would be.

For the price we pay for these trucks they should come powder coated from the factory. I absolutely hate the wax coating that only GM does. My truck is only 9 months old and I have wax coming off in spots where hoists have touched it. I also have areas where it is so lightly coated that surface rust has already appeared.

On the plus side I'm only 10 minutes from Highland, Michigan so I have an option to have it done the way GM should have done it.:)

Installed some backup lights in the rear bumper step. KC HiLites clear cyclones, just tapped into the bed cargo light wires for power. Will get night shots once it gets dark out.2071f8857b73f2db4d26510e2bee44da.jpg8a808e87f5edba380e0db5926e59584c.jpg

I sent them off to Crisp GM Customs. Monty Crisp retrofitted Morimoto Switchback strips in them and I reworked them up to the running light and turn signal circuits.

Installed my fox 2.0 coil overs and rear shocks. Install was much easier than expected.
Very happy so far. New tires should be mounted tomorrow if the rain permits. 82ce1030bef6f6d1ee12a654d8e0a2fd.jpgf4b06499ade501e3b994531d50787c24.jpgfe7aba6060405ae4db8e8dd916f1b0a8.jpg4a577a3f07f1e2579eeb6c497365d7aa.jpg

Just put in Led Fog lights (have a comparison picture) and got the front window tinted to match the rear factory tint 20%. Also got Some Husky Cocoa floor mats for the front but that was the other dayrsz_20190214_164115.thumb.jpg.490b1d1891b9dd73cf4ac3e2b3849343.jpg

What leds did you go with? After installing HID’s my fogs are rather unnoticeable. Need an upgrade myself.

I got U3 plus 5202 led bulbs. A friend of mine had these for a while and they are pretty good. Can give a following update on these in the later months.

Wow....truly amazing. Please post the finished product. If you put this much effort into the frame, the rest will be amazing.
